Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Windows Media Player does not show video, plays only the sound. Despite that the program tells that the codec is obtained. However, it also tells that it cannot open the configuration file.

Some videos have area restrictions. I don't know if this is your case but if you down Windows Medai Player Classic from here for example; from download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Classic/3000-2139_4-10518778.html you'll be much wiser. It plays anything that is in avi format...

Dell latitude wont play mp4 video

dvancavage,

Your problem might be missing codecs. A codec (compressor/decompressor) is used to 'decode' a video or sound. A video practically needs 2 codecs; a video codec and an audio codec.

To resolve your issue, try installing K-Lite Codec Pack Pro. This will ensure you to play all types of videos and music in your computer. Install the program without changing the settings if you don't know how to change them.

Also, I suggest you un-install any other Media Players that you have and leave Windows Media Player 11 (upgrade it to 11; it's free!), QuickTime and iTunes. Set Windows Media Player 11 as your default too so you can automatically play all the files you want with WMP11. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_li...
K-Lite Codec Pack! Download the latest PRO version/ It's FREE!

Play dvd nothing - play s/d card (video) sound but no picture.

You need to update the dvd softwear. Check the default settings for playback of media,if it is set to windows media it won't work if you hav'nt installed the correct updates. Choose the Toshiba dvd player as the default player and it should work. If you prefer windows media then you can get the updated codecs from ' free-codecs.com ' Easier still, try uninstalling your windows media player and installing windows media 11, this will usually resolve the problem.
