Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

Nintendo DS Lite turns off by pressing Y

Hello, I noticed you know a lot regarding fixing Nintendo DS consoles.
I need your help on this.

I bought my DS lite second hand, it's still within the warranty limit but, in my country, just for being second hand, it voids the warranty...

So, the only option I have left it's to try and fix it myself.

The problem is weird. The console simply turns off right when I press the Y button, or after a random number of presses.

Please help.

Thank you for your time.

It's second hand, and as I said it, being second had voids the warranty.

Same problem except with the B button. Took it apart but didn't find anything obvious. Maybe the board is cracked and when we press the button it flexes it.
FYI here is a way to take it apart with a standard screwdriver:

Wow! Me too. except it's with A, B, X , and Y. And i could only play games that use the touch screen. I even sent it in to nintendo and it worked for about 3 months and then the same thing started happening again. I don't know what to do.

i will be playing any game, even Zelda that requires only the touch screen and it will still randomly turn off..

I have this as well and i jus googled how to fix it
i have an r4ds and that might be the problem.

At the right top of the touch screen it is the "Soft Reset"; Red indicator means the "Soft Reset" function is off; Green indicator means the "Soft Reset" function is on. The users may point on the touch screen or press "R" button to switch the "Soft Reset" On/Off.
While the "Soft Reset" function is on, pressing "L+R+A+B+X+Y" can go back and forth to the game's main menu; Please do not do this while saving, as it will lead to malfunction, It is recommended to go back to main menu before you function the "Soft Reset".
If the error occurs on running games, please try to turn off the "Soft Reset"."

Try resetting the hardware by following these steps:
1) With the console powered off, hold A+B.
2) Power up the console while still holding A+B.
3) As soon as the Nintendo screen is displayed, before our screen stating this product is not endorsed by Nintendo, press and hold Start and Select while keeping hold of A+B.
4) Continue to hold these buttons until the Main Action Replay screen is displayed, then release. Your product is reset, and will accept codes once more.

Thank you!!...

Hello there,
Unfortunately, something may be shorting out at the hinges causing the DS to shut down automatically. It is probably a ribbon cable damage. Try contacting Nintendo to try to get it fixed.
I hope this helps! Thumbs up are always welcome.

Gameboy DS lite turns off when B button is pressed any harder than a tap. Gameboy also turns off randomly.

Your DS Lite is grounding out. Take it apart and look at the back of the Bottom LCD..

Has it had any recent liquid spills AT ALL?

Ds lite microphone not working. help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, The Ds microphone is relatively straight forward to replace and can be bought on eBay etc if you wished to fix it yourself. Alternatively if you contact a local DS retailer they will be able to put you in contact with nintendo who will fix it for a fee.

I don't know of anyway to bypass the activities in any games reliant on the microphone.

Nintendo DS Lite Problem

That sounds like your DS lite have a lose circuit part rolling inside so thats why it cant turn on.

You need to open the console, recover the lose part from the inside and resolder it in its place (usually near the power switch, marked as L2). That should fix the problem, if not then you might have blown fuses, lose screens ribbon cables or broken LCD screens. All of these repairs are discussed in other questions here.
