I have this problem on my packard bell dot s unit. when i turn on my notebook, it only displays gray screen, as in nothing you see. when i plug it in an external monitor, it works fine for a long time but still turns to blue or white screen when used from time to time. PLS HELP ME TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. ANSWER FAST PLS> THANK YOU.

Look at the keys on your keypad. Do you see one that may have a webcam symbol on it? If so try holding down on the Fn key, and pressing down on that key at the same time.
If this information does not help, then when Windows is loaded, and running, press the Start key, hover your mouse cursor on All Programs, go to the right, hover on >Packard Bell>drop down to >Security and Support>and then Packard Bell InfoCentre.
Click on Packard Bell InfoCentre. On this screen look at the icons across the top. Click on the icon all the way to the right. -> Guides
It has an icon of a book in it.
Look for Webcam.

Often, problems such as this is indicative of a failing capacitor in the 5V internal regulator section. Most capacitors uses a wet dielectric that dries out after some time due to heat buildup. In some instances, most of the capacitors would also fail ESR test. Additionally, you may want to check the external power supply if it is putting out the correct voltage as indicated in the reverse of the adapter box.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

You can only change the region code up to 4 times then it locks on the last change.
There are some firmware upgrades that can change the drive to region free, if you can screw it up or put in the wrong frmware upgrade then the DVD drive will be a piece on junk.
I suggest you install a region free software that will allow you to play any region DVDs.
Go to www.dvdidle.com to get their Region-Free software, it is not very expensive.
