Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

7 wide black vertical interference bars on all screens. Equally spaced with normal looking segments. Like the stripes on a flag. On both maintenance screens and program screens, too. The bars are "fizzzy" almost like a bunch of up and down lines jammed together. I took the covers off and I see no apparent problems. (Loose connectors, burnt components.) There's a lot of stuff underneath the motherboard that I cant get to, though

The lines don't pulse so much as they squiggle. The bars look like someone took a pen and a yardstick and drew a bunch of black vertical lines close together, only they vibrate. I'm not sure what you mean by the engine. Is it a cable or a socket that connects it? What's it look like? I DID discover that the fan for the lamp is bad. It moans like a hurt animal and won't turn, but it spins by hand easily. I thought5 it might be messing up the display, but when I disconnected it, there was no change in the display.

I had the same problem and had to send it off to the company. I was definitely the motherboard which had to be replaced. The lines went away.

If these lines are pulsating, it sounds like the connection at back of the engine where it connects to the main board. you can try to reseat it and see if that fixes it. otherwise it could be one or the other. really hard to tell without a test fixture. if the bars are fuzzy like they look like they may be underwater then that would be a bad light tunnel.

you can try new fans, that would be cheapest, but from my experience, the main board is what causes the fan problem and could be causing the lines.. Either way, with no fans the unit won't run.

Panasonic SC-PT460 - Little black box covers half of screen

Can you describe the 'box'? Is it the top half, bottom half, a little of either? What kind of TV do you have?

I suspect you might be noticing the aspect ratio of the various source programs being presented differently on a wide screen than you are used to. DVD programs come in a variety of aspect ratios. Normal TV is 4x3, that is, 4 units wide versus 3 units tall. Wide screens are more like 16x9, so a 4x3 image presented properly on a wide sceen would have black vertical bars on both sides. That is normal.

Some people are offended by the black bars and TV's are unfortunately designed to allow gross modification of the image to fill the space. That is akin to taking a photo of yourself and stretching it to fit an improper frame. That probably wouldn't be very flattering to you and certainly wouldn't be accurate. Which is more important - the picture or the frame?

Very faint vertical bar moving across plasma screen.

OK... Left to Right is weird. I'd say one of two things.
Refresh Rate might be to low or to high, but i doubt this to be the cause. I'll put my money on external interferences. Something like another PC screen? TV? anything magnetic and I've even in some cases noticed PC side panels too close to a screen can cause this.

Green vertical lines on the screen

Sounds like you may have some bad filter capacitors in the convergence board. Better take a close look at them before they damage the chips. Good Luck

Wide black bar on bottom of screen

I you know how to repair electronics its not a hard fix. The worst case would be the vertical output IC but im thinking th its nothing more then a capacitor in the verticle sweep circuit The average cost to repair this should be around 75 to 125 bucks. Good Luck
