Open up your controller with a screw driver and disassemble it a little bit look for the butons and take them out and give it a wash then dry the buttons and put them back into the controller and screw up the controller.da.da....
If it's been pushed really hard or perhaps dropped, it's possible that one of the solder joints has broken. Each analog control has two potentiometers (variable resistors) mounted at right angles. Possibly it wasn't soldered well in the first place but worked for awhile just from mechanical contact. But after awhile, a little oxide forms and a sheerly mechanical contact without solder fails.
If you or a friend are handy at soldering smalls things (i.e. 15W-25W soldering iron, tin/lead solder), you can open the controller with a small crosspoint screwdriver. One of the screws is probably under a label, so you will void your warranty if you try this, but it's pretty easy to put the controller back together and if it's broken anyhow... But if it is under warranty, see what help you can get from the manufacturer.
Your controller is most likely exhibiting a hardware failure. Taking apart the device voids your warranty. When a button does not work anymore, it is safe to say that you will need to buy a new controller.
The Logitech Chillstream Gamepad is only $20 and works in the same fashion as the XBOX 360 Controller (uses the same xb360 XInput controller driver too!)
you could allso try a short term solution which stops them sticking for between 1 hour and 3 hours at a time when they start to stick just rub a bit of water/spit around the buttons the part that dissapears into the controller when you press it this will losen the friction so it shouldnt stick intill it drys
