Ivanging, Happens a lot!!! You will be able to see screen if you hold flashlight 1" from screen. If unit out of warranty, you or qualified cold cathode fluorescent lamp back-lit lcd monitor technician will need to find root cause of lamps not lighting-up for you to see all the colorful text and graphics. Reading is free on fixya!!! All you need to know has already been written and documented here on fixya. Get yourself into the FIXYA profiles of "louie12fix" (my old file) and "buddymc" , "budmrtn" and follow all links you find there!!! Just remember to return to this posting and write a testimonial about all you have learned about why ccfl back-lit lcd monitors fail. Your unit has good chance for complete recovery from it's "black" but not "blank n black" screen state.
Do some reading and visit YOUTUBE for DIY repair videos to make decision to repair or contract out repair work or just trade for new. Good luck with whatever direction you take. 12fixlouie

Samsung LN46C600F3F has audio but no video

Similar thing had happened with me. Solution: Probability: 1 Start any familiar movie on DVD/Blueray, and press pause, now go near tv and flash torch light on and off on screen. you will come to identify- 'that familiar scene' paused, of course very faint and un-lit. If you can see faint image then cause of problem is that choke coil giving power to drinking-straw like tubelight is burnt. (Do you remember 4feet fluorescent tubelight with a very heavy metal encased five inch block sitting in the middle?) that block is choke coil. LCD TVs have similar tiny slim tube rods inside with electronic choke)

When i turn on pc monitor flashes then goes black. i can see faintly that it is on.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Screen went black faint images

Hello,
If the screen went black and you can still see faint images of what your computer is currently showing, the typical issue would be a burnt out backlight. For the repair cost, I'd say just invest in a new monitor.
Just to cover the bases, make sure your brightness and contrast settings on the LCD are not set to zero.

Monitor come on for a few seconds then goes black, green signal light stay on green. can you help

the monitor may be losing the back lite. take a flash light or bright light and shine it at the screen after it goes black. can you see a faint picture? if so the back lite has failed. usually the cost of replacement exceeds the cost of a new monitor but there are a couple of web sites that detail the replacement of the "ccfl" cold cathode flouresecent light.

It sounds like the backlight circuits went out or the power supply failed.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Westinghouse 22 lcd monitor. faint click and went

More likely the filter caps failed and may have taken out the inverter fuse and the MOSFET in the inverter circuits also. yoo need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Monitor Failure

Your system was not affected because the PSU can prevent power surges. Your monitor's backlight has went out due to surges in electricity to your monitor. Unfortunately, you can not replace the backlight. I would suggest you buy a new monitor. 19" LCD Monitors has have went down dramatically in the past month.
