HP 2610 AIO Printer - ink carriage broke.

The X-bias spring failure has punctured the ribbon cable in the ink cartridge shuttle. I need a new ink carriage assembly, the part number is C8963-60101. HP does NOT have any more. Where can I get one?

I had similar problem with my 7310. Suggest removing the cartridge and inspecting the carriage. Look for a metal spring that may be dislodged. Mine was due to a little plastic tab that broke. This spring makes contact with the flex ribbon cable and being dislodged prevents contact. If you're lucky, you'll just have to put it back in place. I had to use some quikplastic to repair the carriage. My repair how to is at http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/46650 posted 10/28/10
Also inspect the flex/ribbon cable. Many people have found it damaged, presumably from the spring. If that's the case, then you'll have to replace it.
Good luck

Bought used HP 2410 from Amazon. Unit is displaying print cartridge problem on far right cartridge. Unit came with ink cartridges installed and I notice ink has spilled. I performed a detailed cleanup but...

Remove the right cartridge and check if the spring on the right came loose. When it pops out of position it tears a hole in the ribbon cable at the back of the holder and then you need a new printer. If you can find a carriage assembly it's over $200.00.

Replaced the black cartridge with a new one but the 7130 still says the cart needs to be replaced. Heads look clean, cleaned contacts, tried unplugging and plugging back in.Need help

If the spring inside where the black ink goes gets out of position it can tear a hole inthe ribbon cable at the rear of the carriage assembly. Once it's torn you might as well replace the printer as the carriage costs more than a new machine would. The carriage also wears out so the cartridge isn't held to the contacts anymore.

Printer tells me to remove and replace the right ink jet cartridge. I do it and I still get the same error. I turned the printer off and on and try to reload the new cartridge and still get the same error....

Look inside where that ink goes, if the spring on the right is hanging down, or has poked a hole in the ribbon cable at the rear, you will need to replace the carriage assembly. A new printer would be less expensive.

I am getting an Error "remove and check cartridge on right". I have changed the cartridge. I have cleaned the sensors on the cartridge and where the cartridge goes into the printer. What else can I do?

Remove the cartridge and look inside where it goes, sometimes the spring on the right comes loose and tears the ribbon cable in the back. If that has happened you will need a new carriage assembly, hard to find, expensive.

Black Cartridge will not print.

Flex ribbon cable at the rear of the housing that the balck cartidge fits into is probably punctured. It happens a lot with this model. Remove the black cartridge and look at the electronic ribbon in the rear where it contacts with the cartridge contacts. There is a spring tension wire in the housing that holds the cartridge snug that breaks loose and punctures the flex ribbon rendering the printer useless as there are no part available to repair this HP defect. It is a well known defect / poor design flaw in this machine.

PRINTER ON/OFF

op the ink cartridge protective door located above the ink cartridges. remove both cartridges. look at the white ribbon cable that connects to each cartridge. You will see gold dotted connections. look closely for a small hole in the cable . This hole is caused by the spring that holds the cartrdges in. Sometimes people force the cartridge in puncturing this ribbon cable. It is a poor design by HP . The error code will usually say ink cartridge door not closed. Unfortunately the assembly is fairly difficult to replace and can cost as much as to printer. If you bought new cartridges, buy asimilar unit which uses the same cartridges. Then at least its not a total loss. Scrivitron
