i am using Photobook Canada to make an album. I had it almost complete, saved it before closing the program which I had done before. When I reopened it the next day and clicked on open existing project, the album was not there. I found the prj file on my hard drive in the program files, under Photobook designer. However, when I tried to open it with Photobook by right clicking on the file and going to "open with" the file did not appear as an existing project. In properties Photobook designer is listed as the default program. I'm stumped as to waht else to try.

Hello.

It sounds like the PRJ file is corrupted and therefore will not open, if you have tried to open it both within Photobook and from your hard drive.

Hopefully, you have a backup of the file on a flashdrive or other.

If not, I would first reinstall Photobook, which may not make a difference, but it's worth a try.

If still a problem and the PRJ file is critical to you, there are services that could fix your file, but they can be costly and don't guarantee results.

Hope this helps.

Try from file ..and browse to open it ..and it will probably go from the last save..or import the file like you import the other jobs ..but usually in the menu or file button have open ......and the possibility to browse and choose the file..

I forgot to mention that if it refuses to open the file even if you browse for it from the program ...this means that the file is damaged and it do not save itself proper and you will have to go again from the last saving of the project or..from the start ..but if the file is ok this is the way to open it ...or..better just right click on the file ..than properties,,,change ..and browse to change the file association with certain program
Or ..click on the file ..(right ) and choose open with ...and browse for photobook exe..

in this case that it is not the project file ...take a better look for the file (if you low you saved it for sure ) it is either in my documents on the folder named like the program ( photobook files) or in the program files in the folder that the program is installed look on all sub-folders and see where is saved...or ..just open the program and click file..and see if it displays projects..below all features

Hello,

okay, go to your hard drive to locate the file that you want to open in photo-book, right click on this file and scroll to the option "open with". From open with option, look for the photo-book program icon and select it.

If you don't find the photo-book program icon, then select "choose default program". From choose default program, other program and if you do not find it there either, look under the box, you will find "browse". Select browse and search for the photo-book program from there.

The other option you have is to right click on the program, scroll to properties, click change and select photo-book, then the program will default to photo book.

I hope you understand my explanations.

Good luck.

I've tried both your solutions and neither one puts the file back into Photobook. In properties it already has Photobook as the default program. I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks.

Using iphoto

Hi Heather. What do you mean by 'not completely happy'?
The templates in iPhoto are pretty good and they do make excellent books. You can create pages to your own layout as well.
With options, do mean alternatives to the templates?
There are other book making systems out there (depends where you are). In the UK there's Blurb, who I have used, Their finished books are excellent but I found the software used to do the layouts to be a bit clunky and not always accurate. (i.e positioning images is not as easy as it should be) then there's also Bob Books - I have started a book with their software but haven't finished it yet, and there are several others to try. Just do a search for photobook printing.

Diskboot failure insert system disk

What was the problem in the first place? Why are you trying to restore the computer?

Or reading wrong; do you mean the computer will not start? Boot?

Primer:
Disk Boot. -> The bootstrap files on the harddrive.
Bootstrap <- Make it easier to understand?

The basic Windows files.

Can't access restoration on the harddrive with F11? Quite common.
I mean, how crazy is that? Let's put the restoration files, (Basic Windows files), on the harddrive? So if the harddrive goes bad?????

Suggest you use the Restoration Disk.

{Pre-built computer manufacturers were packing the Restoration Disk/s with the computer. As time went by the manufacturers saw the users were not using the disk/s, or loosing them.

Didn't want to use, because of fearing computer damage if they error, or didn't even want to try.

Okay. Put the restoration files on the harddrive, then.
Have the new owner make a BACKUP, when the owner turns the computer on for the first time.
Save a few cents without providing the disk for each computer.
(Take a few cents times 50,000 computers, or more)

Hardly anyone makes a backup disk, when the computer is turned on for the first time. If the harddrive goes bad you cannot access the restoration files.

Computer manufacturers have gone back to packing the restoration disk, with the computer }

What?
Don't have the Restoration Disk? (I won't say anything about not making a backup disk. Could be failure time with it, also)

Go to the back of the computer tower, or up on the side. Write down the Serial Number. It's in the white Service Tag. S/N = Serial Number
(NO, do not post it on the internet. Only to an authorized HP representative)

Call HP Support.
In the USA call 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Restoration Disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship. $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

For other countries use HP Worldwide Support,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

Do I think the Restoration Disk will repair the problem?
Dunno. Don't know what the original problem was. You haven't stated it yet.

Post back in a Comment.

I have a WD 1TB My Book Essential for Mac. It was working wonderfully until last night, my husband opened the drive on our iMac and was able to access the files on the drive; however, when he attempted to...

Hi there,

Did he try to recycle the files using the iMac? because sometimes if you recycle the files it will show that it was deleted from the harddrive but in reality they will remain there but the are hidden. I think the best way to check if the drive is full is to plug this drive to a computer that has a Windows operating system and make sure to show hidden files and delete all hidden folders that you will see in the drive to free the space completely.

Hope you find this helpful!

Hi simontwaley,

Try to download VLC Player. It might resolve the issue. You can download it from www.videolan.org.

The issue that your encountering is because your media player lacks those codecs that needs to be installed for you to be able to view those files. It is a common issue for almost all windows OS that doesnt have those codecs.

VLC Player can play almost all of the types of video files. Without installing those codecs.

Cant load saved files after xbox came back from repair

Thats what happened to me, after I had mine repaired. Ok, I think it's because they had to replace something in the harddrive that had your saved files Like it could be a number of problems including the harddrive, which might cause file corruption. For Example, I was playing Saints Row and completely lost my progress, the next time I went to load my game. But I could be wrong, just a thought.

I WANT TO FIND AWAY TO REBOOT MY PC WITHOUT LOSING MY FILES AND MY PICTURES

I am assuming you want to re install or upgrade your operating system without losing your files. If this is the case the solution is simple. Purchase an external USB Harddrive Large enough to hold all your files. Plug it in and save all your files to it. After you re-install or upgrade your operating system simply copy your files back. You can purchase 500GigaByte external harddrives for under a hundred dollars these days at best buy or circuit city and even cheaper online. As an added bonus you will have a full back up of all your files in case of future catastrophic harddrive failure.

I hope you found this useful. If you did please don't forget to rate me FixYa.

Thank You,
George
