Is the cmos battery on a vaio vgn-fe31m on the

Yes the cmos battery is on the motherboard.

Every motherboard that runs a computer has a backup battery to run the circuit while turned off. This battery runs the real-time clock (RTC) and is referred to as the CMOS battery. By keeping the clock active and running even when the computer is switched off, power up/down cycles can be logged and before the internet, your computer could keep dates accurately. It also serves to maintain the system configuration settings in BIOS memory based on RAM or FLASH RAM.

Its seems that my Vaio VGN-FJ170 is been draging RAM. really slow

1-Try installing graphic-cards driver from the vendors home site!
2-Install a Codec pack like k-lite
3-use VLC-player
4-If yor graphics use shared memory , it could be a result of memory module failure.

Best of luck

THE VIDEO GRAPHICS ACTUALLY IS BUILT IN THE MB JUST INSTALL THE RIGHT DRIVER.. ABOUT THE BIOS NO NEED TO RESET.. AFTER THE FIXING THE MB..FORMAT YOU HDD. OR INSTALL NEW ONE NOT OLD.. BECAUSE NEW MB.. IF YOU USE THE OLD OS YOU WILL MEET A LOT OF PROBLEM,, LIKE BLUE SCREENN,, AUTOSHUT OFF,, SOUND NOT WORKING, OR ANY POSIBLE BECAUSE OF FEATURES SOMTIMES.

Laptop Won't Boot

Hi,

Vaios are prone to faulty Ram ( memory Slots ) The only suggestion i can offer.
Is to remove and re-seat the CPU. this ocassionally solves the problem. if the laptops been dropped or banged. the cpu may have worked loose. but you,ll be looking at either ram or processor. failing this you can assume that theres a motherboard fault.

Thankyou For using Fixya.

Cmos battery on a Sony Vaio Laptop VGN FE31M

It should be located somewhere on the motherboard wich means pulling the computer completely apart which unless you know what you are doing may be a little difficult for some, but not inpossible.
