Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

GE GSS25IFRF "surging"

We own two GE GSS25IFRF refrigerators. One in our house, one at our shop. The one in the shop has the annoying habit of "surging" while running. The fan in the freezer side surges between a high and low setting. The fridge keeps cold and the freezer is freezes hard. The surging is mildly annoying and I'm wondering how much $ it is costing me by not running steady. The surge is about 2 seconds on high, 3-4 seconds on low. The sound is oooooooohhhWAAAAAAoooooooohhh, repeat until cold. (That's the best I could do in words... =)
Note that the one in the shop is a year newer. Also the shop unit seems to go through water filters 5 times faster than the house. Same water supply. I don't think the water issue is related to the surging, but I thought I would add it just in case.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate them. Thanks!

The motherboard (part 801 on diagram) controls the speed of the fans and it may be going bad. The round type of condenser fan you have may be the cause of the weird sound.(part 730) Make sure it's clean. As long as it's cold you can run it just beware it may stop.

I have a GE Model GSS25IFRF and have no ice or water dispense...appears to be a short but my limited troubleshooting has not revealed the problem.

If the lights go out when you try to get water or ice, you have a bad main board located in the rear of the refrigerator, this board powers the dispenser.

I've had a GE Profile side by side (model # GSS25SGPCSS) with in door water and ice dispenser for approx. 6 years. This week the in door water dispenser stopped working. I removed and replaced the filter...

I have the same fridge and the water line freezes up in the door on a regular basis. I have to use a hair dryer and slowly wait for it to melt. It takes about 30 minutes and then works fine for awhile. It has become quite a habit that I'm not thrilled about. Don't waste your money replacing the board or anything else. GE was no help and I'm now shopping for a new fridge bc of this issue. Needless to say that it won't be a GE! Hope this helps.

I have a Ge fridge Model# Gss25ifrf bb that occaisionally starts beeping with no visable explanation

This is most likely an issue with one of the door switches. (located in the top of the inner liner at the front, where the door pushes it in when closed) (could be either the freezer or fresh foods door switch) The refrigerator thinks a door is open, and sets off the door alarm. This might also result in leaving the interior light(s) on, which could melt light covers or add to the work load of the refrig. Another possiblity could be the dispenser recess display (WR55X10444) but let's hope that's not the case, as it is a bit more expensive.

Ge gss25ifrf ww side by side fridge clicking

Sounds like the main control board is bad . Pt # WR55X10656 . This board is located behind the 8 " X 10 " , panel just above the compressor compartment . The compressor relay , is what you hear clicking , cutting the compressor , on/off . Even the dispensor board , is operated by the main control board .
