Question about DeLonghi EAM3400 Espresso Machine
Like others, my Magnifica stopped working with the infuser stuck all the way down and could not be removed. I managed to get the infuser out by removing the small tab that holds it in. But now it only displays generic error.
I decided to take another look at it last night, and found that the threaded rod on which the infuser travels up and down appears to be stripped at the bottom. If I put a little upward pressure on the infuser "carrier" while turning the gear, the infuser will go up. When I plug the machine in it now moves the infuser carrier to the bottom, but then stops and displays the generic error again.
Does it sound like it is simply this threaded rod that is causing the problem? Is it a replaceable part? It isn't on the Delonghi website under parts and accessories.

I have a problem. I removed the infuser and the internal bracket is now in a "down" position and I cannot get the infuser back in. I need to know how to raise the internal bracket to its proper place. Any ideas?

Remove base plate and turn pulley clockwise (probably for several minutes) until infuser arm returns to vertical position and the infuser itself drops to the low position. You should here a click when it reaches this point. The infuser can then be removed as normal.
