I need sound driver for 82845G motherboard

I suggest to download the sound driver again from your manufacturer..and install it clean ..and also download and install the UAA architect driver if it is present on the manufacturer site ..cause this may be the issue ..If the sound card is proper installed and it is not in yellow it means the driver is the correct one ...apparently ...but it may be missing this uaa driver needed for most conexant drivers...when you downgraded from vista or windows 7 to xp ..
or your sound may be disabled from bios ..cause usually when something appears with the correct driver but it is grayed out and can not be accessed for any changes it indicates it is disabled..
My suggestion is to go to BIOS settings ..and engage the optimal factory defaults if no other thing works . and see if if this action bring the card back ..
Another fault can be generated by a defective sound card ..and in this case need to be replaced..or if it is a on board one ...just get a pci based one ..and run it in parallel ..or if it is a laptop ..just get an external one usb based..

SOURCE: no sound
if you installed the XP yourself, as an upgrade, then the old sound drivers are still functioning.
you may have to delete the drivers and go to the microsoft site to download the drivers as I had to do.
www.microsoft.com to the right of the screen --in the smaller window, under all Microsoft Sites, click on downloads and trials then when the little windows show up, click on windows media player.
Install this and the drivers will installwith that program. and you should have sound. then select the VERSIOn windos you have ex;(windows XP)
