Hi,

There are some cables that connect the door to the springs, the most likely suspect is that one of the cables has broke, The link below has information on the parts needed to make the repair. Let me know if it is helpful.

There is normally 2 heavy springs & cables that control the "falling" of the door located in the bottom of the machine or it the door itself. Sounds like one (or both) have snapped.

Why does my dishwasher door fall freely when opened?

There are springs and pulleys that assist the door. They use a nylon rope that is very thin to connect the pulleys door and springs. The rope is most likely broken.

How do you repair or replace the door tension spring on a KUDP01FLBT2 built-in Kitchenaid dishwasher? Thanks

Hi,

If your door falls down or is noisy I have put together some instructions here on how to repair. You will need a kit part number 8194001, it is relatively inexpensive, let me know if you have questions.

The door to the dishwasher is very hard to close. The door also falls down to the floor which makes the carriage/basket fall down as well.

Granddughter stood on dishwasher door and now it goes down too far when opening. Spring assembly (pulley type) is FINE...but door goes so far down bottom shelf nearly breaks dishes when pulling out

This happens when people leave the door down, I've seen it many, many times, sometimes the door/hinge assembly can be replaced or even bent back, sometimes it totals out the unit...Good luck !

LOOSE DOOR HANDLE

Remove 4 screws(Torx 20) along both sides of inner door liner. Be sure to have a good grip on the outer door as it will fall off. I always start at the top of the door and work down. You may have 2 blocks fall off, they go on the hinge and fit on only 1 way with the slot on the hinge.
