There are a few simple steps you can take to keep your Outlook running smoothly. If your Outlook is slow and unstable, it can put a serious drain on your productivity and even elevate the stress level. So take a few moments to get it shape.
1. Keep your PSTs at a reasonable size
With Outlook 2003 and 2007 you can create “new style” PST files which do not have the old 2GB limit. However, for best performance, we still recommend keeping your PST files relatively small and not letting them grow too much above 1GB.

2. Disable Add-ins you are not using
3. Compact your PST files

4. Enable Cached Exchange Mode
If you are using an Exchange-based mail account, enabling Cached Exchange Mode will likely improve Outlook responsiveness.

6. Keep an eye on your Desktop Search Indexers
Using products such as Windows Desktop Search and Google Desktop Search is a great way to be able to quickly find email messages

7. Keep your computer up to date with patches and Service Packs

8. Reset Outlook cache files

9. Disable RSS feeds in Outlook
•Open “Tools->Options->Other->Advanced Options”
•Uncheck “Sync RSS Feeds to the Common Feed List

Hope this Helped

Outlook 2010 slow when sending attachments

It could be an outlook add-in. Try starting outlook in Safemode. Close Outlook, Click Start > Run.. type in "Outlook /safe" <--without quotes.
Try resending attachment. If that works close outlook and start it normally.

In Outlook, Click File > Options > Add-ins > GO... (next to Com Add-ins). From here you can go through the list and uncheck what options you don't want.

My microsoft outlook no longer works. It is terribly slow and I have lost my spam options what is the fix?

By not working, do you mean can't get in at all, errors what exactly? If the whole computer is running slow you most likely have viruses. If it's just outlook start by repairing outlook.
Go to Start/Windows Key Control Panel Add/Remove Programs/ Programs Click on Microsoft Office/Outlook and run the Repair option.

Comment back for further assistance.

Outlook 2003 is running slow and won't download email from pop3 server though test message works.

Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL exactly once and check which processes are sucking time.

real time anti-virus/adware blockers are notorious for using the system resources and slowing things down.
