Question about Maytag CWE4800A Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

Pop heard and no power to controls

Turned the oven on and heard a "pop" and no power. Did the following: 1. Checked the breaker box, it was not tripped.
2. Reset the breaker for this area leaving it off for one minute, this did not reset oven.
3. The oven has power to it as the light inside the oven works.

No power to clock or tempature settings and timer. Does this unit have a fuse? Could this be the board for the oven controls as the main power source must be working or inside light would not work.

Please find above your service manual, this is what the engineers use to troubleshoot and repair. Just follow the troubleshooting procedures and you should be able to track down what is wrong and hopefully fix it.
anytime there is a "Pop" in electronics it is never good. The lights are on a separate circuit, so they may very well work, while nothing else may. Usually it will be something on the main controller board.

I take it there is no fuse on this unit. I am in the process of printing the manual. If it is the control board, it this a modular unit I can order and simply replace?

I printed the manual and it appears quite technical. Is this a repair you would suggest the average homeowner to attempt? I have no expertise of any kind with electronics or appliance. Would I be wiser to contact local appliance repair services?

Frigidaire gallery stove, oven not working,

Morison,
The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I was preheating our electric oven, heard a very loud bang/pop. Checked and the oven had PF (power failure) I went downstairs and the breaker was tripped. Came back upstairs and to look at stove, the burners are working fine so I continued to preheat oven after a half an hour the oven was only slightly warm. Did you ever find out what was wrong?

Electric Dbl Wall Oven-loud popping noise at end of self clean

Bill ,i dont suspect the control unit is the problem im going back to the loud pop you heard I would say the pop you heard was one of the elemants blowing and that the reason the the breaker tripped if you say the clock, timer and light functon are ok it more so points to an elemant in most cases when an elemant blows it breaks the circuit .but the other componants also work when you reset the breaker i think in this case bill i would call a electrician it needs testing, sorry i could not help this time bill, but do not hesatate to contact me if i can help you again.adrian
