Hello!

Cartridges #14 and#15 can be refilled, but they won't work afterward, because they have a "smart chip" that blows the electric contacts on the cartridges (that is why Lexmark labels them as "return program cartridges").
You should buy #14A and #15A, those are refillable.

Hope that helps!

There is a procedure you can use on Lexmark printers that works just fine on my Lexmark X-2650 printer, but should work on any Lexmark printer cartridges that use the RF IC chip that counts how many pages a particular cartridge has printed. Lexmark is in defiance of the High Court ruling on Lexmark predatory toner cartridge attempt to defeat owners of there printers to refill there own cartridges. (1) Power down your computer and then your printer. (2) after the 2 devices are fully shut down, unplug the USB connection on the printer. (3) power on the printer only long enough for it to do it's " Scan and Seek " cartridge procedure, about 8-12 seconds. (4) repeat step # 3 powering up/down the printer 5 times. This clears the printer internal memory of the last 5 cartridges used and then power on your printer with the lid up this time to allow the printer to position itself for cartridge replacement. Put in your newly filled cartridges and and let the printer do it;s " Seek and Scan " procedure. After the printer is done with this procedure power down your printer then turn on your computer. Open up your computers icon to get your printer ready to print. You'll get a message from the software to turn on your printer, turn it on. Put something on the glass to scan and hit the " Copy Now " button Icon on the screen. You'll then get a prompt that newly discovered cartridges need the printer alignment paper. Print out the alignment paper and put on the glass and press the scan button as indicated by the on screen prompt. You should receive a message stating " Printer alignment success" and you can print now. Noe: However it will still print but there might be a question mark above any given toner cartridge display when the printer starts to print. This should not be a problem for you know the cartridge is full and refill it again when the particular color shows up in the printing process, typically 100-125 prints per cartridge. Eventually the print head will wear out beyond the point of being able to print out quality documents. Just buy a generic cartridge that is compatible with your printer, there are a multitude of sellers on the market who sells them, just buy from a seller who offers a warranty with their product. Use that cartridge and when you see a prompt on the screen that you toner cartridge is getting low, this is the time to refill you units with the toner refill kit you bought. And make sure you are following to the letter the refill instructions, if you kit is lacking on good instructions go to YouTube , there are plenty of step by step refill videos to watch on that subject and is beyond the scope of this answer . I had my black ink cartridge refilled and I cannot get the printer software to recognize that it is no longer empty

Lexmark is a company with a simple model: sell the printers cheap and ink expensive. Many brand name cartridges have little sensors that trip when it's empty. This paired with software that tells cartridges to expire after they reach a certain amount of time.
The X2600 is especially made to sell ink. As I'm sure you know, she won't print unless she has a color cartridge.
If you paid someone to do this, they should have known #14 & #15 inks (the one's the x2600 takes) auto expire after a given amount of time. Because of this a newer cartridge may refill just fine and suddenly, once it passes the "expiration date" the cartridge just shuts down.
There are sophisticated hacks were you modify your print software and OS registry to ignore such things but you may be happier just buying the refill cartridge.
I know, it's unfair! Lexmark covered their bases on that one too. Like most companies, the terms you agreed to when you installed the printer and the manual include a commitment to only use Lexmark brand refills and not to refill cartridges as it "may damage your printer."
Here's a good article that addresses the issue in more detail.
Hope this helps!

Hi there

I think you can not refill any Lexmark because lexmarks printers are made not to reset after refills sorry.

Empty ink

Hi,

According to your problem it seems your cartridge has been damaged or choked so change your cartridge. Because some times when we use refilled cartridge, Ink goes dry and printer's sensor can not sense the ink.

How to refill a lexmark x2600 black ink cartridge?

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

Lexmark 2300 series

yes you can refill the cartridge.

Each kit includes 3 bottles of photo ink (1 bottle each of photo black-photo cyan-photo magenta) plus all refill-tools and instructions needed to successfully refill your Lexmark 18C0031 cartridge.
The trick to extending it's life is to know how to add Ink, and to only use Ink which matches the ink which originally came with your cartridge. Each cartridge is manufactured to work with a specific type of Ink, and will not work correctly with anything different.

Lexmark X2600 refill problem

many printer manufacturers put something (a chip?) in the circuit of the cartridge to prevent refilled ones from being recognized by the printer....when the "factory" cartridge is empty, the only way for the printer to see a full cartridge again is by using a "new" factory one, ...i guess it's the big name brands way of making sure you buy "their" ink and not use refulls.

Refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.
