Docking connector for sonic impact if2

I have a sonic impact if2 and the problem is tha the 30 pin docking connector has come loose and the ipod cannot be used in the docking station. Apparently this is a design defect in the unit which is common. When I went to the Sonic Impact help desk, they told me to send it in for repair for $75. My question to them (and also to you) is how do I remove the bottom of the unit containing the Ipod docking connector from the hard shell. I am reasonably sure if I can get it out of the shell, the connector can be fixed.

My sonic impact i-f2 has a loose docking connector. The ipod will not stay docked. I am sure that if I could get inside the unit that i could repair it, but I have no idea how.It is a defect that was admitted by sonic impact, but they will not do the service as I have lost the original purchase receipt.

Had the same problem for a while, not been able to find any useful info anywhere.

Got a little bored today and decided to have a go myself.

First remove the battery.

The exterior zipped cover is glued to the plastic electronics compartment, careful prising (the cover is fairly flexible) can loosen the glue enabling you to remove the compartment.

Unscrew the plastic cover under this you will see the the pcb that the dock connector is attached to, along with lots of glue holding the wires for the speakers.

Unscrew the pcb and remove all the pcb connectors (all glued secure), then you will have access to the side you need to solder.

Now all you need is a hawk-eyed soldering genius as the tabs on the connector are extremely fine and closely spaced.

After testing I'd also recommend gluing the dock connector to the pcb for added future security.

Hope this helps.

I found a website that had the phone # of their head of Technical Support (http://www.waves.com/objects/pdf/press/press_sonic_impact01.pdf ) It appears his name is “Big” Rich Bracke and his # is (760)944-0274.

How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 receiver?

The best way to connect an older IPod or other MP3 player to the AVR-1803 is to use a 3.5 mm (M) to RCA audio cable. This will work for audio on all IPods (and video on some of the older IPods). Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-Video-Cable-iPod/dp/B000STBSU4 . Connect the 3.5 mm end to the headphone jack; the RCA plugs go into one of the AVR-1803 RCA inputs.

For some IPods, try a connector like this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-iPod-Connector-Cable/dp/B000CBFVXS . This connects to the docking port on the IPod.

I hope this helps.

Can I connect my iphone4 to my Numark icdmix3?

Hi,
Yes you should, if it is a conventional Ipod docking port. The Ipod connector on the top of the Icdmix3 is the same as the one on the iphone. Happy mixing,

I am trying to hook up my Yamaha Universal Dock YDS-11 for my iPod touch into my Yamaha HTR 5830 Amp but there is not where to plug it into. Do I need another type of cables to do this.

Hi, I'm afraid that your receiver doesn't support YDS-11. You can check it at yamaha site. This dock uses special cable and special connector on the receiver (which yours doesn't have).
So the only way to connect your iPod to receiver is via analog audio output (jack connector on the iPod).

YAMAHA YDS-11 TO A RX-V459

Hi, as per yamaha site RX-V459 doesn't have the DOCK connector which is used by YDS-11 dock (or the bluetooth module). This is the only possibility to connect the YDS-11. YDS nor receiver don't have USB connector and they are not needed.
For example RX-V465 does have DOCK connector and supports YDS-11.
For your receiver, you can use only analog audio cable with your iPod.

Ipod connection to a Yamaha RX v363 receiver

Fortunately you are wrong :)
On yamaha site you can see that RX-V363 has a DOCK connector, which supports both iPod docking station YDS-11 and Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver YBA-10.

Will NAD 712 accept an iPod Docking Station?

A 712 is not set up to use an Ipod USB dock.  You can buy a dock that will use RCA jacks into an old stereo - Apple sells them, others too.  Then the Ipod sits up and you can look at it.  Or you can buy the 1/8" stereo plug to two RCA plugs that Radio Shack has been selling for 30-40 years, plug one end into your Ipod headphone jack, and run the two RCA plugs into your Aux input.  That costs about $5, and is easy as pie.  An Ipod will play through any old receiver, but the USB docks will not plug into them.

Denon receiver (DRA 397) will not speak to iPod dock

IF YOUR NOT USING A DENON IPOD DOCKING STATION IT WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY.
YOU CAN CONNCET OTHER TYPES OF IPOD DOCKING STATIONS BUT YOU WILL NOT HAVE CONTROL THROUGH THE DENON AND ONLY CONNECT THE AUDIO FOR THAT DOCKING STATION TO THE DENON AS ANOTHER SOURCE INPUT
