Hi, Try to turn off the pc (you can do force shutdown to turn off the pc) then remove the cables and the battery. Then press & hold the power button for 5 seconds . Then reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop, turn on the pc.

Check if you can access internet . hope this help...

I'm currently using safe mode because when I load the computer normally I am unable to do anything. When I go on the internet I can't type anything because it locks up. I tried to restore it but I can't...

I suspect you have a virus/trojan. Download the rescue disk from bitdefender, Create and boot of the cd. Ensure your computer is connected to the internet as bitdefender will update itself and do an automatic scan of you laptop.

Hp internet problem

You may need to look at your router and wireless gadgets, instead of your computer. Is your router high up in the room and giving a strong signal to the computer? If not, get a bridge to repeat the signal. Do you have a cordless phone or other device that is causing interference? Is someone borrowing your router signal in a way that causes your signal issues (what encryption do you have enabled)?. Some routers just lose their connection and need to be rebooted regularly. In some cases, the easiest solution is just to go to a wired network and not deal with the problem at all.

What internet browser are you using and the version? For example Internet Explorer 6 or Mozilla Firefox 3. Internet Explorer is the "e" on your desktop.

Have you ever been able to successfully surf the internet on this computer?

If so, try clearing out your temporarly internet files and cookies. It depends on what browser you have on the computer for steps.

Internet Explorer: you would right click on the "e" on the desktop and left click on properties from the drop down menu. Then depending on what version you would clear history, delete cookies and delete files...for example.

The other thing you might need to do is remove MSN Messenger from your startup folder so it doesn't even open anymore causing grief.

Installed a Lexmark x5320 printer.. and now I cannot access internet sites from IE.. except and even with that, the links do not work.. thought it might be the proxy settings.

Try uninstalling the Lemark printer thru the ControlPanel/AddRemovePrograms and see whether u have the same problems. Remember to restart the computer. I think u should have the same problems because I do not think the Lexmark printer software has anything to do with your internet browsing except that u have been infected with some kind of browser hijack. Run an internet security software to find whether your computer is "clean".

WIn XP has a built in Firewall that may be enabled. To disable this Click on Start, go to control panel and then network connections. Right click the local area connection and go to properties. Click the advanced tab and uncheck: Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet. If you do not do this it can prevent you from using the router or even accessing the router configuration screen. The reason it causes a problem is the router already has a firewall and the built in firewall can cause a problem.
