There are some rubber sleves that the ribbon sits on when it is in the lowered position they get very gooey and stop the ribbon from lifting if tou find them and remove them it should work.

Hi we have an old ibm typewriter. I changed the ribbon and the wheel. I cleaned everything but still prints half of the letters. The top part to be exact.

There should be an adjustment on the head that sets the angle of the strike for the wheel. Unfortunatley there are no diagrams available for this technology

I don't know how to change the ribbon in my olivetti studio 45 typewriter.

Could be the plastic spools are cheaper to make and otherwise they are interchangeable.

Loose ribbons, left one doesn't coil the right one's feed

Old Olivettis used a robbon spool that was driven by the turned uver tabs from the ribbon core. Universal replacement ribbons do not have metal cores. If you still have your old spools you can wind the new ribbon on them.

Have a olivetti 1000S typewriter, put in a new cartridge but when I type no printing appears on paper, any ideas

Put a multi part form in it, if it prints on the copies then you have a ribbon issue. If so be sure the ribbon is installed properly and that it isn't twisted (the dull side should face the paper) Try it without the Lift off they sometimes steal the impression.

I have an Olivetti Lettera 32. I put a brand new ribbon in it and when I type, the letters are coming up too light on the paper. How do I fix this? What needs to be done?

First thing is to be sure the ribbon is feeding, watch while you type. if not you may have a universal spool ribbon that isn't quite that universal. Wind the ribbon onto your old spools.
