JVC HD-ILA (HD-55G456) Lamp has to be re-positioned everytime TV starts up
Hello everyone, i have had this TV for about 2 years and just replaced the lamp with a brand new one a month ago. i made sure its the correct lamp and it worked fine for a month.
Now every single time i boot the TV up it flashes error lights that the lamp is not positioned right, so i have to unscrew the lamp and put it back in and then it works fine. turn it off and next time i turn it on the same exact thing happens. this is driving me crazy, i have to do this daily...i make sure screw the screws down snug, but i've tried tighting them super tight, loose, supoer loose...its doesnt matter.
Anyone have problems like this before or maybe have a solution?? thanks!!!!

5 Years!!!! Wow...you guys must barely watch any TV for a lamp to last that long. Most people average every 2 Years or so. Just go out and buy a brand new lamp...Approx. $200 plus tax or so. Should solve your problem ;^)
But before you do... just in case... go into your TV Menu and reset your video setting to factory... its very easy to do on screen (no manual required). Cheers!
Tv probally needed a new tv projection lamp. This tv has not been change it projection lamp like 1 1/2 or 2 years already?Tv been on and used it like 4 or 5 hours everyday?Yes,than the tv flashing or solid on green LED light is on have a word "LAMP" written on it tv bazel frame?Yes,tv 100% require a new tv projection lamp replacement.
U replacing the tv with a new lamp with the original Toshiba reconmended lamp?Generic lamp might have this problems for some tv and don't last as long as the original name brand lamp. Also the board that call the Ballast board might be dying too.The Ballast board only job it is to ignite the tv projection lamp and kept it being lit.
Lamps only last Between 5,000 hours some last 8,000 hours
So what that means For Every hour TV is Playing it is burning up hrs of lamp. These sets are not like projection that you can run day and night .
Most Lamps need replacing every 2 yrs Depending on how many hours you watch TV?
It could be that the Lamp you have is defective ,Mats has Lamps for $99.00 1-800-628-1118
Get New Lamp then see if that corrects the problem.
Definitely. The lamp often looses oomph before it goes. Think about how long you have had your set. The average life seems to be around 2 years. Eventually your set will indicate the lamp needs replacing, if it hasn't already. I see your posting is about 6 months ago. Are you willing to verify for everyone else?
If picture quality is poor, be sure you aligned the bulb in the correct manner and be sure the cover for the bulb is not loose. Also, you might want to re check you picture setting as it might have gotten reset when you pulled the plug (I hope you pulled the plug when replacing the bulb).
Heres another solution (maybe temporary) to the problem of no picture and no sound for 30 seconds. I had my tv's power saving setting on "standard" before. After I switched it to "reduced", the problem was fixed. It has been almost two weeks without the problem. I think its a good fix until the new bulb comes in the mail.
You have a defective light engine and no matter what you personally do to the TV, it will not correct the problem. Hitachi is aware of this and you will need to call their customer relations department (not their customer service). Their Customer Relations Department # is 800-654-7013. When you first call them and tell them that you have a bad light engine, they will act like they've never heard of it but they will give you names of certified techs in your area. Once the tech comes out and confirms the problem, call Hitachi back, at the number I've listed above, and all of the sudden, they will know about the problem...imagine that! The will call and confirm the problem with the dealer and will ship a brand new light engine to the dealer to come out and install.
Here's the kicker...there's always a kicker. Hitachi will cover the part ($1500) but will ask you to cover the install. Our install cost us $400. This was worth it to us being that we paid $3600 for this TV 3 years ago and it's been a great TV up until we had the light engine issue. Once this part was replaced, the TV looks brand new. Again, everyone I've communicated with online has had the same or a very similar problema and have messed around with the TV on their own or bought a new bulb. This will not fix the problem. It is the light engine that will have to be replaced and Hitachi has been good about not giving to much of a hassle over it IF you have a certified tech come out and confirm it! Good Luck!
