I assume you are referring to AC wiring? If so, there is no need to break the circuit for neutral or ground. Only need to break the power (line) to switch the device on or off.

I have an Atwood G6A-8E (gas only with DSI switch), the DSI light doesn't come on the and the water heater will not ignite.I have checked the battery, changed the gas.what should I do next?

Check for a bad fuse in panel first, then with a 12 volt test light or multimeter, check for power in to switch, as well as out when in on position if it's easy to get to. If not, turn switch on and test for voltage at brown wire to thermostat terminal, that comes from inside at back of water heater from switch inside. If it has cut-out switch in plastic sleeve attached, be sure to check for power on both ends of that cut-out switch. If power only in but not out, replace it. As I said, that brown wire comes from switch, so if no power to it, check at switch. The other brown wire goes back to connector on ignition board. If power is there, turn switch off, take an eraser on end of a pencil and rub contacts on ignition board/module to clean them off, as well as spray electrical cleaner on contacts of connector to make sure you have a good connection. Check all ground connections as well, and if you have 12 volts at brown wire to connector on ignition board but still no spark, replace ignition board/module.

I have an Intermatic WH-40 timer set up on swimming pool pump. I am not using any start/stop mechanical pieces on the dial face. Yet my pump does shut off everyday for short time period. Why is this...

Sounds like pump issue or loose wire and not the timer.
Check wiring at pump. Read pump manual. The pump may have overheat cycle that trips off and then comes back on to protect pump without requiring owner to press reset button each time.

If timer turns OFF, then the manual override lever moves to the off position, and when timer turns ON again, the override lever moves to the on position. If override lever is moving without a tripper, then I would like to know more about that. Add a comment with photo posted on Flickr.

Same with the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker switch does not trip and reset once a day.

A loose wire could cause occasional connect-reconnect.
Check terminals inside timer for signs of high heat and burning. Check that insulated part of wire is not under the screw-down-plate.

Check circuit breaker for signs of burning and smell of electrical burning and sound of shorting on the busbar.

Circuit breaker trips frequently. It is a double 20 amp switch.

Is this breaker connected to water heater?

1) A double 20 amp breaker is called a 240Volt breaker.
20 amp breaker is actually rated for 16 amps for safety margin.
It is also important that this breaker have 12 gauge wire which is color-coded yellow.
Look at label on side of water heater for wattage of unit.

2) For example 4500 Watt water heater is typical.
4500 watts divided by 240Volts = 18.75 amps which is nearly full capacity for the 20 amp breaker, and is slightly above the safety margin.

3) If breaker is getting old, and it works at full load each time water heater is on, it can wear out.
Open circuit breaker box and replace breaker:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-circuit-breaker.html

4) You can also move circuit breaker wire to another same-size breaker and see if problem continues.

If this is new installation, you have Load wires and Breaker wires reversed.

http://waterheatertimer.org/images/WH40-water-heater-circuit-5.jpg

Hot wires from breaker connect to terminals 1 and 3 ... notice also there are small white wires connected to terminals 1 and 3.
Small white wires go to 240Volt clock motor located on back of mechanism, so these terminals have to be Hot all the time so clock motor is ON all the time >> thus hot wires from breaker connect to same terminals that have small white wires.

Load wires to water heater connect to terminals 2 and 4

Reverse your wires and things should work fine.
