Blue Screen, Zig Zag Squiggily lines, black sceen and freezes

I have a hp Pavillion 6000. It randomly goes to black screen for no reason.at random points. I have to then manually shut the computer down. It will either go to black screen or squiggily zig zag lines and these lines can be blue purple they can go diagonal or vertical and its never the same. I have to shut down. I'm thinking it could be my video card is dead becasue when i click on solution it says nvidia corporation. Do i need a new computer?

SOURCE: Blue Screen, Zig Zag Squiggily lines, black sceen and freezes

I have the same issue with my DV2610ca model HP(exactly the same symptoms as described and same temporary (on/off) fix). I doubt that it is a hardware issue as my HP only performs with this problem with windows 7 and Vista. With XP as the OS it has never happened....what gives?

Sounds like you have power saver turned on. Go into "display properties" under "control panel". Go to "screen saver" Check your "Power" settings. Un-check "Hibernate" or look and see power settings are and adjust accordingly. If they are all turned off, check your BIOS settings on your PC. It mights have a power saving feature in there.

IMAC SCREEN FREEZES OR GOES BLACK.

same thing happens to me - most of the time it will just randomly freeze; occasionally i get an unresponsive black screen. this 24' aluminum imac usually has startup problems also - sometimes it will "gong" and nothing else; sometimes the apple logo will come up and then nothing else; sometimes it will load the logo and then spin for a few seconds and then freeze - the only option is to manually shut down. there is no rhyme or reason to it

Hp 6000 notebook screen goes black..... blue control lights go on and off

if i'm reading this correctly, it sounds like it could be a motherboard/video issue. If that's the case then unfortunately you are probably going to need a new computer if it's out of warranty...

for now however, try shutting down the computer and removing all power (power cord, battery) for a few minutes, then plug it back in and try to boot.

HP Pavilion Dv6000 with Vista screen goes blank

Sounds like a software issue with the power settings for the screen. Go into the display properties, open the tab that reads screen saver, click on the power button. Adjust the screen setting to never. This should take care of your problem, if it doesn't then it may be a loose connection on or around the screen. CHeck the connections.
