You need to get the proxy settings from your service provider then.

Start -> Settings -> connections -> connections

There should be a link named: set up my proxy server
enter the proxy server there.

You should ask the settings from your provider, b.coz in INDIA they have different settings for mobile GPRS and GPRS to use with computers. I think your GPRS setting is for DATA which works with your lap, you should set the setting for GPRS.

For Example:
Hutch has Access Point Name: portalnmms for GPRS on mobile where as www for DATA access from computer.

Thanks
Iqbal

That's an ISP issue, related to the last place you used it..you may need to reinstall or change the ISP information in the settings, since you were 'handed off' to that location from whereever you were before.

Gprs

Hi,
Your network operator will send you the settings to your device automatically if your mobile is supported.

To configure the settings manually, you need to call to your mobile operator's customer care and they can provide you help to configure your device with their network specific settings.

Having proper settings is not only enough to access the NET but also you should have proper GPRS subscription activated for your mobile number by the operator. Contact your network operator for activating a plan.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Please rate the the solution provided.
Thanks

I have a t-mobile sim card, but my phone is htc touch pro. The phone works fine, the only problem is I can not send or recieve text messages. My question is does anyone have the MMS settings for the Unicel...

You need the T-Mobile settings if you are using a T-Mobile SIM. assuming you are in US as Unicel not over her in UK so the settings are:

T-Mobile GPRS settings (T-Mobile EDGE settings) T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE settings for terminals (e.g., phone handsets). Some items are possibly Nokia-specific. I have found the authentication type can be either Secure or Normal. These settings should be useful for T-MobileWeb users.
APN: wap.voicestream.com IP address: 216.155.165.050 Data bearer: GPRS Username: [none] Password: [none] Authentication type: Secure Connection security: Off
APN is the GPRS Access Point Name.
T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE modem settings T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE network settings when using a device as a GPRS "modem", that is, when "tethered" to another device. Examples include connection via Dial Up Networking (DUN) Bluetooth profile, or via Universal Serial Bus (USB). These settings should be useful for T-Mobile Internet users.
APN: internet2.voicestream.com Username: voicestream Password: [none] SMTP server: myemail.t-mobile.com
APN is the GPRS Access Point Name.

After browsing a lot of sites and experimenting with the settings finally I was able to configure my HTC P3400i with Vodafone Live support without any help from the Vodafone customer care (who were very bad and rude when I called them for getting the setting). The settings is working fine for me in Bangalore. Hope this helps all who bought this phone and struggling for getting the GPRS setting for HTC P3400i.

Below is the step by step instruction:
Step 1

Select a modem:
Cellular Line(GPRS)

click next

Acess point name:
portalnmms

User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Domain:* <blank>

Go to Advanced->TCP/IP
select radio button "Use server-assigned IP address"

Go to Advanced->Servers
select radio buttion "Use server-assigned address"

Step 2
Start->Settings->Connections->Tasks->add proxy setting

Select "This network connects to the Internet"
Select "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"

Click "Advanced" button
Tap on HTTP
Server: 10.10.1.100 Port:9401

Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Domain: <blank>

Tap on WAP
Server: 10.10.1.100 Port:9401

Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Domain: <blank>

Step3:
Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced
In "Select which networks are automatically used"-> click the Select Networks
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
Select the Connection name which you configured in Step 1

Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:

Gprs

The gprs and 3G are Internet mobile wireless services from your Mobile Telephone Provider.The SIM card is able to connect to the GPRS network of your provider.(it depends on how far away is the closest hot spot).You have to activate this service and the access point can be found automatically.You should call the Technical Support of your provider or visit the web page for further details.Be careful with the cost.This is usually an expensive service.Good Luck.

Internet?

Please note that when you want to use pocket (IE) browser of your PPC (pocket PC) phone; you need to ensure GPRS setting has been made in your phone.

For GPRS setting (Example: Airtel India network) please do the following steps.

Start --> settings --> Connections(tab) --> Connections(icon) --> under My ISP tap on "Add a new modem connection" --> enter connection name: airtel --> select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) --> access point name: airtelgprs.com --> leave blank on username, password & domain --> Finish.

If you are using different network (sim card) then you need to get "access point name" information from them.

For BSNL South prepaid or post paid use following settings:

Start/ Settings/ Connections /GPRS

Connects to : Internet
Access point: gprssouth.cellone.in

Leave other items blank.

Start/ Settings/ Connections /Proxy

Donot creat any proxy

You donot require any thing else. GPRS will work on your mobile and also in Internet share. Internet share works with cable and bluetooth. Browse on mobile or laptop !!!
