Hi,

Probably you might have a weak display controller or broken one. So its advisable to replace it before it completely goes out...

Yes that was too much they ask, sometimes recovery disk is not working and all you have to do is to reinstall the operating system because it is corrupted and won't boot up the operating system. If you have all the drivers CD of your laptop and windows xp or any operating system installer CD, i will guide you a guide on how to reinstall the operating system, here is the link of my blog : http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean and how to reinstall all the drivers.

If you don't have all the drivers, you can search the acer model number of your laptop drivers and it is free of charge. Any queries, I am here to help you. Good Luck. Installing drivers are easy to operate.

Need SATA HDD password for acer aspire 5100

When everything gets done loading the screen says:

Unknown Disc
<There is no disk in this drive.>

it gives that error message 4 times on the "select partition" list

Reguardless of what i click (besides Quit) being Install or Delete, I get the Blue Screen of Death

"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"
Technical Information
STOP: 0x00000050
setupdd.sys Address F77F8245 base ar F77CA000

I did some research and I came up with possible RAM faultyness, so, I switched the RAM chips from my Acer to the AW (which obviously work, or else i wouldnt be typing this) and i get the identical blue screen error

What bugs me about that specific error is before it even says "Click button to boot from CD" it says RAM cleared... video shadowed etc. etc.

From beginning to end this is what i did:
1. Swapped out new HD
2. Used Utility disc to set-up HD
3. Attempted to install XP
4. swapped RAM chips
5. Attempted again

im at a complete stump to what to do to fix this... any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Acer Travelmate display very dim

If that's the case that can be a problem with the screen itself that may need to be taken to a service center near you and they check that if needed they will replace the screen, if its still under warranty better take it back to Acer and have the screen replace..

Hope that helps.....

I have a acer aspire 5100 and there is a crack on the screen, a friend of mine gave me a 15.4" screen from another acer (can't remember which model?) but the plugs you connect them up with wont fit my...

This is what one calls a potential 'can of worms.'
It could require a great deal of connector swapping and it isn't likely that Acer will allow you to access the necessary circuit diagrams to even make this possible.
It is highly unlikely that you can simply procure and install any kind of 'adaptor' and without knowing having the circuit diagrams, you are facing a near impossible task.
The backlight of an LCD screen uses high frequency, high voltage to supply the fluorescent tube(s) that provide light.
Incorrectly connecting lines could result in damage to both you laptop and/or the circuits contained in the LCD body.
