Question about Curtis RCD882 Shelf System

Curtis Micro Radio/CD Player Shelf System RCD882

I just purchsed this and got it out of the box, looks great, radios sounds great but the CD player...while spinning the CD makes this loud constant something rubbing on the CD sound. Kinda like a paper rubbing. It is so obvious that I could never listen to the music loud enough to cover the sound. I tried unpluging altogether for 3 hours, and starting it back up again but no change. I love this, it is perfect for my son and will look awesome in his room. Also was a really good deal, but is kinda like driving an expensive nice quiet car but dragging a heavy chain behind. Annoying. I would just exchange it at the store, but this is the last one they have and wont be getting anymore they said. Is this model known for this problem...maybe thats why it was on sale? What do you suggest. It has a neat modern look to it with a light up blue background if it helps you know which one it is. On the internet the model number shows up as an antique looking radio. ?? Oh well, I really hope you have some good news for me. Thanks, Heidi

I also cannot see anything that would be rubbing when I close the CD door, theres a pretty bid space there between them.

When you load the CD, the CD itself sits on what is called the CD Table. The height of this table is somewhat critical to proper operation of the CD. Since this is a new unit, this should not occur. Return the unit for exchange or repair. If the unit is less than 30 days old, insist on an exchange. You should not have to be without the unit for something that new.

Cd player problem

From your brief description it sounds like there is a faulty component in the CD detector and pre amp section of the CD side of your sound system.

The Radio has its own separate Radio Frequency detecter circuitry and pre amp section so thats why the radio is OK.

There is no quick fix until the CD section can be inspected and the item causing the fault replaced..

Cheers From YUBEUT..
