I had my comp. fixed and they put windows vista home premium on here and i can't play my old games that need xp what can i do

You can do 2 things:
1 - try to run them in XP mode  - right click on its icon, then Properties, then Compatibility, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows XP in the drop down menu and finally at the bottom of the compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as administrator'.
2 - install http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ , configure it and in it install XP and all the soft with problems, starting with the games.

Dual Boot problem in Windows XP & VISTA

Don't try to edit the xp boot.ini or the vista bootloader. It only leads to other problems and headaches.
Try this first: Take note as to which drive has vista on it, put your vista installation cd in the drive and let it boot to the "installation window", then choose "repair", then "startup repair." Make sure you choose the drive that already has vista on it. Let that run and when it re-boots you should then be given a choice to boot to vista or "other windows".
There is also a (free) program called EasyBCD. Download that, read the directions and have at it.
If none of that works, you'll have to do a clean install. Install XP on one drive first, then Vista on the second drive in that order. The Vista bootloader will pick up the XP. However, XP is NOT forward compatible and will not recognize the Vista bootloader. Make sure that you don't have any flashdrives or media cards plugged in before doing the install.
Another approach would be to shrink the Vista volume, creat a new partition, then install Linux Ubuntu that partition. Linux will detect all of the OS's and create a boot menu. Unfortunately, you'll lose about 5 gigs to the Linux OS and it's swap partition, but then, you get to goof around with Linux :-)

Xp & vista

you can install both into your computer, even into the same drive / partition, but its not recommended, in that case it is required to install into a diffrent named folder than c:\windows

I personally have 2 working xps installed incase the other gets messed up I don't have to spend a few hours reinstalling right then and there il just start up the other one.

Installing AT&T communication manager for data card conflict

Dear sir/madam,

The more you go in to alter settings and programs in your
DELL, them less likely they will be to honor the warranty. Having said that, one
thing you can try IF you have a restoration disk of any kind, is to try to repair
the boot files and sequence. you can use one of two methods. You may get a handy
utility called "VistaBootPro" that does the job very nicely or follow the link below
to MS and run their bootrec scheme. click this link for more information to how to boot to update
windows update.
