It can be a number of things. First off, have you tried your radio in another persons vehicle with a known good setup? Can other people hear your? Does your meter move when you try to transmit? Does is move when receiving someone else? Try to check your CB/PA switch, and make sure it is in CB. It you be anything from your radio, mic, speaker, coax, or your antenna.

After you check it out with another persons setup, please write back. I just need more information to help you work through this.

I will also email you from rollincbmods@yahoo.com

Do you have any knobs or switches that say 10k or just switches on the side. It should also be on AM if the other person is on AM (this is not a 10m radio anymhz it only has AM, it is a legal CB Radio) Generally you should just be able to put it on AM and talk if your on the same channel. if its been modded and has switches a 10k switch or (high low norm) these may no be in the right place. if the clarifier is unlocked that may also cause a problem, it needs to be on with the switches and knobs in the right place.

good luck! play with the switches, with someone else who has a radio.

Galaxy dx959 will not receive. Speaker is working. S meter is showing incoming signal.

the over power doides may be blown. you should start there .they should be marked D-1 and D-2. you may want to replace them with diodes of a higher rating.

Just purchased a new galaxy dx959. Coax and k40 10k watt antenna. Installed it in my peterbilt 379. I have a lot of background noise. I tried unhooking the coax from back of radio and the noise goes...

You probably have the 959 that has a MOSFET final. It is not recommended that you try to get more power/mod by just turning pots. This can shorten the life of the MOSFET drastically. I normally set the power output to 7 watts and the mod to 100%. This give around 30 watts peak on AM and around 25-30 watts sideband. You need proper test equipment to align the radio.

As far as background noise, this type of radio does have more that others. Make sure the Noise blanker and ANL are turned on. If you are getting noise from equipment in the vehicle, you should take your truck to a good CB shop. They can find out what is causing the noise and fix it.

When ikey the mike on sideband lights go on off like your turning it on and off like it sucks all the power runnig it inside house with three amp converter brand new got it today

3 Amps is probably not enough for this radio. To test this diagnosis, conenct a car battery inline with your charger or just the battery to the radio. BE SURE TO HAVE A FUSE ON THE POSITIVE power wire and observe polarity ( + and - ) . If the radio works like it should, you now know the power supply is not big enough. Try a 10-15 amp supply. The manual shows the radio to have a 4 watt ouput on Am and 12 watts on SSB. My experience with Galaxy radios says go with at least 10 amp supply. Here is your manual and a service info page.

Have new dx959 doesnt get out very far talking 100yrds or so use rdking 56 mic mic works fine on old radio pc 78 and gets out fine also are 959 radios ok or junk has good reception

The DX959 has an output power setting knob. It's located next to the channel selector and is labeled RF Power. Turned counterclockwise will reduce output power. Turned clockwise will increase output power. Your switch is probably turned all the way counterclockwise resulting in low transmit volume.
Also, make sure the wiring for the RK59 is correct for the Galaxy. Even though it's a 4 pin plug, the pinouts may be different for the Uniden and Galaxy radios. Do a Google search for mic pinouts for your two radios to check.
