1) Update to SP3 first, and any other updates MS has to offer.

2) If that still doesn't work, go to FILEHIPPO.COM and download and install a programme called VLC Media Player. That should have all the codecs you need.

VIDEO PLAYS WITH NO SOUND ON WINDOWS 7 TRIED REINSTALLING BUT STILL NOT WORKING

First try uninstalling the version you are using and install the latest version 5.2, Then open an .swf file in the player and close the file. Now open the video file you were trying to play. The sound must be audible. Try this solution, if the sound was audible in other video players and not audible with MPCStar player.

I cant play dvd. asking for codec application.

The Video Player you are using doesn't support the video file format you are trying to open. So go online for downloading the corresponding codec from that player itself. You have not specified what type of file you are trying to open...... But still I recommend you to use VideoLan VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic(K-Lite Codec Pack) for smooth performance which playing audios or videos because these players support most of the video and audio file formats. You can download the players from the following links:

  1. VLC Media Player
  2. Media Player Classic Homecinema

Hope this will work the best for you.

I cannot open the videos because there is no related codec

What type of videos you are trying to open? If the video file you are trying to open is not recognized by the concerned player, this will show these type of error messages. As you have not clearly mentioned what type of video file you were trying to play...... there is a problem. But still, you can try these ones...

1. VideoLan VLC Media Player Download

2. K-Lite Codec Pack Download

Hey

I'm not sure that this will work for every type of mp3 player, but on an Insignia you have a few options. One is that you can download and figure out how to work a system like Rapsody, which should usually work okay but it's sort of a hassle if you don't have it already. What I would recommend is to (make sure you've first plugged your mp3 into your computer) open the video file. You can do this by 1) go to your start menu, 2) double click on "My Computer", 3) double click "Insignia Video Player", 4) open the internal memory, and open the video file (labed "videos"). Then once you have that file opened you can just copy and paste your video from it's home file to your video file.

Sorry that this explanation was so long, but I wanted to make it pretty clear. This usually works IF THE VIDEO IS IN A SUPPORTED FORMAT.
