None of my usb ports work on my hp pavilion dv7-4051. in the device manager it says that a program or hardware issue is involved. it says that a file or something is missing, or corrupt. i dont know what...

Try visiting HP's support site for latest drivers for your supported model?
Also, right click "my computer" and select manage. From there, select Device Manager and look for any Unknown Device/Driver (yellow icon with ! mark).
You might be missing/needing an updated driver for the computer to use the USB ports. Windows updates won't necessarily include the model/make specific driver.
Note: please be more specific with HP model as there are several 4051 (entertainment model), along with version of Windows (7 (32bit or 64bit). Look for latest BIOS and update that, along with any chipset and storage drivers that might be applicable to your model.

I have an old IBM t60 Thinkpad I am trying to (clean) install XP home edition. The OS is installed but I have no internet connection. I am missing drivers for Network controller, PCI device, SM Bus...

You can try to use an Ubuntu 10.10 CD, and when you are done with the install you will have access to the web without needing any drivers.
Then go to the web and download your XP drivers if you still need to.
Would recommend you use Ubuntu as it is much better OS than XP and runs great on T60 very solid.

It's a big pain when you dont have the right driver. but try this:

1. download and install the Windows Service Pack 3 (XP SP 3) in the computer and check if it works.

and how are you trying to connect to the internet? you might just want to put in an extra PCI network card, if you want to use the broadband or if you need the usb ports to work, try a PCI USB card instead.

either ways, make sure you have installed SP3 in that computer.

cheers!

Problem downloading usb 2.0 driver

Hi,

Most likely you are missing the chipset driver. You will be able to download one for your modelt from HP website. If your hardware is usb 2.0, Installing the chipset will enable this. If you need more info do reply with the laptop model and operating system.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
VJ

My laptops Usb drive is not working: no mouse no pendrive seems some software is missing what should i do

#1 Right click on my computer, go to properties, click the hardware tab in device manager. Look in the list for any yellow exclamation marks. Anything in this list with yellow exclamation marks are missing the software. Red X's indicated drivers are disabled. If this is the case then you need to download the chipset drivers for the computer. These can be found via the manufacturers website. #2 It could be that the USB port is bad and you just may to install a PCI controller card. This can be picked up at any computer retail store.

Hi,
You need drivers for your system.
All the official acer drivers for your system are here :-

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/power_s260.html#driver

As listed at the site:-

Realtek Audio Driver is your Multimedia Audio Controller.
NVIDIA VGA Driver should be your Video Controller, if that don't work try SIS VGA Driver.

SiS 661 chipset driver should fix your usb problem, if it dosn't update windows to SP2.
Get that from here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Then try again with SiS 661 Chipset Driver.

You should also install the rest of the drivers for your aspire sa80.

You said you had no access to internet so burn the drivers using a friends computer (one with internet) and install from the disc and you should be fine.
