Reported Phoenix BIOS backdoor passwords include BIOS, CMOS, phoenix, and PHOENIX.

Try these to gain access first. As these may still be active.

My son changed his password on his netbook. now he doesn't remember it. he cannot log in at all. he can do absolutely nothing with it. how can we fix this?

at Windows XP's Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu where you can specify the User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in "Administrator" (without quotes) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there it is not a password protected Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator.

Then simply click start > control panel > User accounts then select your sons account and click edit then click remove password. once done simply log off and then log in to your sons account and no password will be asked for. If your son is the root administrator then you will need to get software to reset the password for you

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as the user to log in once you have your computer running again you have to take control (administrator)control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you can change the password there or if your computer has a system restore you can restore it to an earlier date which will have your personal settings
click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. or if you still cant get past this password

Remove a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computerthe location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

I brought the msi u100 series for my son he have forgotten his password so i need 2 no where we stick the recovery disk he had with it

Log on using the administrator account, the default password is none (blank) (in case you don't see the administrator account, at the log on screen hit ctrl+alt+del twice and at the new log on screen type administrator as user, leave blank the password and hit OK). After you have logged on you do what you wish.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

How do i reset the pass work on my thinkpad. somebody changed it and wont give the new pass word to me

If you remember your administrator password, or if your administrator has no password, simply start your laptop in safe mode. Do this by pressing F8, a list of options will be displayed. Select Safe Mode.

In safe mode, it will ask you for the account to log in with, select "administrator" and log in.
When you successfully log in, delete the user account with the changed password and create a new account with your password.

Acer Aspire 5315 - Help

It depends on what operating system your using, if it's windows XP then you should be able to press 'control' 'alt' and 'delete' twice when it comes up with the logon screen. This will then give you the option to log into an account called administrator. This will either have no password, or have the same password that you originally used to setup the account. From here you should be able to either change the password of the other account or, create a new account.
Failing that you can hang your son upside down from a window untill he remembers.
