Had my motherboard changed by local repair shop. Both fans are now running constantly & it is deafening, also power light no longer comes on and was told it was "no big deal". Have 2 like computers,...

Ok so what fans? the case fans? the cpu fan? The power supply fan should always run. The case fan can be wired to the mother board and do an speed step system (slow to fast) depending on heat, same with cpu fan. As for the power light its just an matter of pluging in the wire from frount panel to the mother board pins for pwrled. Asus has an download for your board to get the pin outs.

Processor for P5VDC-MX

Hey there alcouto, your motherboard supports Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4, and Intel Pentium D processors. The socket set is LGA775. The FSB should be no higher than 800Mhz. It appears you have purchased the wrong CPU for your board. I hope the rest of the info helps you on your next purchase. Good Luck!

On board sound and graphics

Hi Keith, If you are using Windows XP: Right click on "My Computer"; Click on Properties; Click on Hardware Tab; Verify that there is no Red or Yellow marked entry; If there are, then drivers are not installed or there is a problem; The drivers for the Asus A7S8X-MX are available at the Download pages of the Asus site. In "Input Model to Search", type "A7S8X-MX", in Select Category, choose "Drivers", click on "Search Info". On the new page click on link"A7S8X-MX", click on the "All" tab. Listed are all the downloadable drivers. Hope this be of some help to you. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
