Vhs tape stuck inside Samsung DVD-V3500 dvd/vcr combo

After four years plus of performing very well, my Samsung DVD-V3500 DVD player/VRC combo just stopped working. It won't take power either from the remote or from the console, and there's nothing wrong with the electrical outlet. I assume a fuse blew or some such and that it wouldn't pay to try and get it fixed, so I'm ready to throw it out but if at all possible I would like to retrieve the VHS videocassette that is stuck inside the machine. I have no mechanical abilities at all, so if there is any solution to this (such as opening up the machine), please provide VERY detailed instructions on how to do it. Thank you.

Yes,,I have the same problem. My Samsung-V3500 DVD/VCR player suddenly quit working. I found the fuse in the rear,,and replaced it with a 2.0 amp fuse (the original was a 1.6 amp),,and it blew two of these 2.0.

Radio Shack doesn't carry the 1.6. Plus, wouldn't a 2.0 work instead. Or do the fuses have to match exactly??

I have the same problem. I replace the fuse. When I plug it in there is a flash in the fuse and it burns out.

Go to this web site. It will give you some guidance on how to remove the tape. I had the same problem and managed to get the tape out with out much trouble. My DVD V 3500 blows fuses like they are going out of style. Go to http://www.fixer.com/ for help.

Not much mechanical skill needed for the task ahead. there are three screws which holds the cover on the player. Here are a few steps that may help you with your power problem. There is a fuse located inside of the player at the power cord connection for safety purposes.
1. Remove all power from the combo player
2. Remove three screws from the rear of the player cover
3. Remove cover, as the cover is removed you will see the fuse at the end of the power cord attachment.
4. Remove the fuse and replace with same amperage or volts required. (replacements could be found at Radio Shack.)
5. Replace cover
6. Connect Power and check combo player

Samsung DVD-V3650 Combo Player ejects most videotapes without playing them

You can only compensate for minor scratches. As for the vcr side the rollers could be dirty or the brake worn out. The tensioner may be too sensitive as well. Basically the mechanism probably needs servicing.

The manual for my DVD-V3500 says that you can't record from DVD to the VCR. But, can you record from the VCR to a DVD?

In short, no. Not with this unit on its own. No function for recording from or copying to DVDs exists with this brand/model.

A separate DVD recorder is required. I don't know of anyone who records DVDs to tape these days.

You are correct; the manual states clearly you cannot record from the DVD deck in this machine, which is a bit unusual, considering other brands of combos such as LG, SONY and PANASONIC offered an input (which was between channels or could be selected via remote) to allow DVD to VHS recording within the one unit.

I would presume you can connect this combo to the input of a DVD recorder, play a videotape and it will work via cables. DVDs last longer than tapes anyway.

Samsung DVD-V3500 VHS/DVD player used to "remember" time when we lost power, now it doesn't. I assume there's a back-up battery, but it's not noted in the instruction manual nor do I see a cover or...

If it has a battery it will probally be inside under the cover. It coulbe replaceable or it could be a soldered in lithium (typically button cell) which last about 5 years.

Record from VHS to DVD

i should imagine so if they are not copy protected films i.e shop ones .if they are tv films on tapes etc then it would be possible to do so.
via insert the vhs tape and insert the blank dvd in to its tray
play the vhs tape and press rec to record on to dvd .
although the manual might give a better guide to doing this .
