Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Removed honeywell thermostat from new home to install a new honeywell programmable thermostat. Couldnt get the new one to work so reinstalled the old one and it wont work. Checked breaker already, cant figure out what the problem is.

Do you have a model number for the new and old thermostat? Do you have a split system? This means you have a heater in the house and a condensing unit somewhere outside of the house. Let me know if you have a packaged unit or a split system and we can go from there. I might just be a blown fuse on you board, but I need to know what you have so we can start to trace things out.

If you are unsure about which wire goes where, that may be the source of your problem. The color coding can be confusing when changing from old to new. I just installed a Honeywell 5.2 Day RTH2310B Programmable thermostat and I had to deal with the same situation: 2 wires, one white one black. After reading the edvice in one of the blog, the solution that worked for me was: BLACK ON Rc terminal and WHITE on W terminal. My furnace is running fine now. Hope it helps.

did u turn the power off to unit before installing t-stats,if not then mabe blown low voltage fuse

you have to configure the thermostat to run the fan when there is a call for heat. look at the installation instructions and they shoud ask you if it is gas or electric heat if its electric then you are gong to have to configure it to makr e the fan come on with the heat. Good luck

Rewire an old 2 wire thermostat to a honeywell 5-1-1 programmable


I connected the blue wire to the R and the white wire to the W on the old thermostat and shoved the new Honeywell 5-1-1 Day programmable thermostat up the first guys *** that i ran into at Canadian Tire

Installing Honeywell RTH7000 - I have too many wires!


check to see if the B terminal is on the new t-stat if connect to it , but this terminal refers to heat pumps and is normally use to energize the reversing valve on the outside unit and not used on ac units , but normally the tag O/B is the same terminal on therostats

the analog unit uses just two wires for heat. red - white. there is a heat anticipator setting that must match the burner current. check your programmable specs and follow instructions.
