SOURCE: aims 5000 watt inverter troubleshooting

The amp meter on this unit measures the battery current. So if you have an 8 amp load at 120 vac you will draw more than 80 amps at 12 volts and 40 amps at 24 volts. While this may not explain the 180 amps that you are seeing -- it's possible that the dryer is drawing more than 8 amps.

SOURCE: Power inverter

Some inverters will not work plugged into a standard lighter port. I had to wire an outlet direct from the battery, using #6 wire and a 30 amp fuse and all has been fine.

SOURCE: Vector vec 051D 3000 watt fan won't run anymore, unit overheats

your inverter needs to cool at all times , if the fan does not work, try buying a small standing fan to blow cool air to you machine, it is possible that your heater is making the inverter to over heat please avoid using the heater on the inverter

My 3000 watt aims inverter/30amp charger seems to work but the charger will not charge/transfer when I turn on the generator. Charging indicator will not come on. It does transfer the generator power

dear see that :
1- the range of voltage which inverter work between it for example 180-260 v
2- most small generator voltage reach more than 260V so the inveter not work
3-check the frequency of genaratoer if it not fix the inverter will mot work

I'm sorry that I can't help you, but if you're in a hurry, you can visit the Magnum website at: http://www.magnumenergy.com/Service/Servicefront.htm and try to find your model's online manual and search troubleshooting advice or you can email customer service at
support@magnumenergy.com and they should at least be able to lead you in the right direction.

A few questions: Does this problem remain even when there is at least a 10+ watt load on your system? is your Magnum in a hot environment? Does your inverter feel extraordinaryily hot? Have your batteries outlived their lives? Have you cleaned all the connections? Even if they 'look' like they don't need it?

All the best to you.

My inverter keeps going to falt even though i only use it for a few seconds its only a few months old and has not been used mush its a 1000 2000 max

What are you trying to power with the inverter? Do you know how many watts your appliance need to run? Your 1000 watt inverter needs 83 amps from your battery to drive a 1000 Watt appliance. The minimum size wire you need to hook up the battery to the inverter is a size 6 as short as possible but no more than 25 ft.

Hi, Can you tell me why my ATD 5953 beeps some times. Thanks. Roger

Yes, it will beep warning you it is peaking the power. For example, let's say your running a computer, and maybe a small tv or something, then let's you have motor off and units surge or require more power , inverter will peep to warn you, that your peaking power and pulling more power than battery can supply /via alternator put out. I had a 3500 power inverter in a semi truck, when I used to run microwave, especially with motor not running it would do that, when microwave would surge for heating. Make a long story short, just when it beeps, it's saying need more power captain!! Thanks mike from fixya.

I have a 1000 Watt Inverter, along with a regular car battery when the electricity goes out; Question: Can I use the 1000 Watt inverter and connect a 100 amp, deep cycle battery? I use regular house...

Yes, just be sure connections are heavy enough wire, and obviously the inverter uses 12 vdc input. Hook jumper wires positive to positive, negative to negative, on all 12 volt batteries. Deep cycle batteries will work better than car batteries. Just remember, when re-charging them, that they last longer when charged slowly, so don't use a high amp setting on charger and to monitor them closely, and do it in a well ventilated area, away from any ignition sources.

I need to install my inverter 18 feet from my battery

a very thick one,,,like a baby battery lead on your car,,,its a very bad idear to have it so far away from the battery point, you would be far better off finding a closer place to put it as the volts drop off would have a big drop in out put on the inverter,,,also thats one big mother of a fridge to use 3000 watts????
you need a small power station to run it,,and if it do use 3000 watts your inverter is far to small to do the job, read the out put plate on the inverter,,it says 3000 watts max? not all the time,,,,thats about 2000 watts realy running contently and the whire to feed the inverter will need to carry about 30 amps so your car battery is say 90 amp hours plus the volts drop off, you would be lucky to have the inverter running for 3-4 hours before your battery go's is very flat on you!

Your inverter has a peak of 3000 watts rating and should power that hair dryer. Make sure your batteries are in good shape. The inverter can only put out what it takes in. 1800 watt demand on the inverter requires 1800 watts from the batteries.
