The ribbon is not advancing fast enough so overlapping of char. on ribbon , is there a multi-strike mode ?

    Yes found the solution .
    code and the ? enters multi-strike mode
    code and the . exit the multi- mode

Yes did find fix it was in multi-strike mode
the code key and the period pressed down exits M/S mode
the code key and the ? key enters M/S mode

Try code comma or peroid I know this is what they used in the later models.

Ribbon is not feeding enough


Under ribbon left side small screw , loosen and you can slide an small arm forward or back to give you more ribbon feed, may work. don't take screw out just loosen and slide.

Swintec 2600. Ribbon is not advancing properly. Types in same place randomly.


You may be in the overstrike ribbon mode. Try code and . , or / one will get you out of the mode.

Typewrite ribbon not advancing. just staying put.


You didn't give a model but I'll try. If the ribbon is feering just a little bit you may be in the uverstrike mode Code and comma, period or slash (I can never remember which) will get you out of that mode.

For a Swintec 8014 typewriter: the bottom portion of the letters are not tranferring to the paper when the keys are striked. although the ribbon shows the full letter being striked, only the top portion...


Check to be sure the ribbon dosen't have a fold in it and is fully seated in place, be sure the platen is fully seated in the side frames, check the correction tape for proper imstallation it can rob the print if to high.

hitting "code + /" puts ribbon drive mode into multi-strike ribbon mode, to correct this hit "code + ."

Problem with illegible type


I called the 800-809-7138 number and the tech told me to press the code button and the period key and it removed the multi strike (?) mode. Thanks for checking back!

Try code . or , one of them should change the ribbon spacing mode.

Swintec 7040 typewriter ribbon feed.


The typewriter is supposed to automatically adjust itself to the type of ribbon you have installed. Have you tried a different ribbon?

KEY STRIKING PRESSURE


Try taking the ribbon out and looking at it see if there is one spot for each character on the ribbon or if they are overlapping.If they are over lapping then either you have a problem with the ribbon drive assembly on the machine or it is set for a multi-strike ribbon.
