When i turn on the Mediagate it flashes blue (not connected to PC) and doesn't respond to anything, not even the power button. When connected to the tv nothing comes up, however I can still access everything when connected to my PC.

The headphones flash blue when u switch it on.If it flashes blue and red, it means that it is in bluetooth connection mode.So u can connect it with bluetooth devices by switching on bluetooth on your phone or pc.After connecting the red light stops flashing automatically and blue light starts blinking.Hope you understood. :)
tried with reset doesn't work, ok it could be the IR sensor at the front panel of the tv doesn't work. but before you replace it you need to ensure if your remote controller is working. have you tried to check the remote with camera trick just to know if the remote controller is sending light to the IR sensor of the tv.
Assuming you have the latest firmware update installed (late 2008 I think) Mediagate 450HD won't play MP4 or H264 encoded files. It also won't play MKV or MWV files - there may be others but these are the file types I have encountered the same error when playing. Some MP3 music files won't play either but I have yet to investigate why this is.
Solution - convert the file to standard AVI format - keep the same settings as the original file. There are a number of Windows (AVI Convertor) and Mac based programs that do this - Google is your friend.
Hope this helps
