The receiver makes a fuzzy low volume sound and you can hear a faint sound of music but no real sound comes out. Also when you adjust the volume it makes a clicking noise.

I have just repaired one with similar problem.

Car headunit fuzz in speakers.

my first thing to check would be the ground to the stereo. if your ground wire is loose, you will get that odd sound at most volumes. if that doesnt solve it, then you can go to a car audio store and buy an inexpensive noise filter that you splice into the power wires for your stereo, and that usually eliminates the radio noise.

Honda Civic Issue with Radio Volume Control

This is a known problem with the factory units and no, there is no fix. There is a series of checks you can do, but short of that the only option has been to replace the unit. I have included the graphic for the checks, other than that it is not fixable.
