GE XL44 Stove top works, oven/broiler don't

Model #JGBC20BEW2WH. I cannot get the oven to work. Looks to be an electric ignition (the unit was is the house when we moved in so I'm not familar w/ it). Stove top lights just fine, but when I turn on the Stove I'm not even smelling gas. I saw on one website where they had a diagram of a switch for the gas to the oven but my unit does not have this (at least not where it is supposed to be).

I know the gas is connected because the stovetop works fine. It does concern me that I don't smell any gas when I try to light the oven however.

I looked up your model. This stove has sealed burners on top and uses silicone carbide igniotrs to operate the oven. The ignitor must pull at least 3.2 amps or beter to light the oven. They get weak.

XL44 broiler and stove top work oven does not

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

GE XL44 Gas Stove and Oven. Everything works normal except the oven which stopped working suddenly (no flame). Couldn't find the manual to check troubleshooting guide.

The oven uses a silicone carbide ignitor which requires 3.6 amps or better to open the gas safety valve.
If you don't see any glow from it then it is either blown or the gas valve has gone bad. If it is glowing but not real bright it probably is weak.

Magic chef oven/stove top range not staying hot

Hi, It very well could be the ignitor. Sometimes they work at first and then will not open the gas valve later in cycle. You can set the oven to heat and watch the ignitor. If it glows and the gas will not ignite in 30 to 45 seconds, the igniter is getting weak. I jope this helps.
Please let me know if I can assit you further.

two things either hte clock(control ) assy not sending powerdown to the igiotr, or hte valve that the ignitor is connected to onst nay good, unplugh the unit andwitha meter try testing the 2 wire connections on the top of the safety valve( i wire goes to the ignitor nad the other is a neutral wire htt hooks downt to under the valve for the broiler, you should show continuity across those to leads, if not your valve is no good and will need replacing

WHY WON'T MY OVEN HEAT UP?

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
