Question about Kitchen Ranges

I AM LOOKING AT PURCHASING YOUR DOUBLE OVEN RANGE MODEL #PB975SMSS. MY QUESTION (MAYBE STUPID) BUT I LIVE IN AN OLDER HOUSE AND ONLY HAVE ACCESS TO ONE 220 PLUGIN. DOES THIS RANGE ONLY REQUIRE ONE 220 PLUGIN. CAN I BAKE IN BOTH OVENS AT THE SAME TIME.

Yes it only requires one 220 plug in you might have to change the breaker to match the amp rating or not and you can bake in both at the same ok

My older model electric hotpoint selfcleaing range, lower oven self cleaning function is not working. what could be wrong, maybe i didn't set a control knob correctly, don't have a maual for t

Back to the fifties! If the lower oven cooks normally, the heating element probably is OK. For self cleaning the normal temperature setting is bypassed and the heating element is set to a substantially higher level. Your oven may be unable to self clean because operation of the knob may not actually start the cycle. The thermostat could need replacing even though normal cooking is OK.

I think I can help you but i am a bit confused with the panel box and the junction box. If you want to reply explain the circuit in a bit more detail from the switchboard where the fuse is to the back of the oven. It would also be a good idea to have a voltmeter or test lamps handy. Does the double pole breaker do the Active and Neutral or is it 2 phases going through the breaker. Did the wiring used to be for a full range and now there is only the new oven in its place.

Hi--  Since you've gone this far already- let's check this stuff first.  >Power connections at bus block.  >L1 and L2 connections at control.  >Any ground connections.      Start with power off and visually inspect connections.  Bus block is difficult to access for live testing, but can be seen with bright flashlight.  Connections on board route all the power, so make sure all are tight.  Please acknowledge this post if info is helpful- have more if needed.  Thanks- Ed

Double oven... top works great, bottom has power but will not heat. No codes showing. Have had ohm meter on it and all is functional to elements. GE Profile model # JKP56BOA1BB, older model... maybe 1999.

Do you have 220 volts to the element. If you do then you have a bad element. If you don't then it is usually your erc (electronic range control) or your oven sensor. You need to test your oven sensor for the proper ohms, (should be on your wiring schematic), replace the sensor if you don't have the right ohms rating. You can also compare the upper oven sensor rating with the lower oven sensor rating. If your sensor is good then you need to check if your erc is sending 220 volts down to the lower oven element. Again you need to look at your wiring schematic(usually found in a sleeve behind the oven control panel), to determine which terminals to test. As always you need to be sure that you know what you are doing when you are working with live voltage. If you don't know how to work on live electical products you need to call a technician. It can be very dangerous. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

My Jen air double oven freestanding range model series JDR8895 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS NOT working and I live in Panama can you help me???

If absolutely nothing is working the first thing top check is the electrical circuit breaker/fuse panel for the house. Make sure full voltage is going to the range.
Remove the rear panel where the wires come in to the range and look at the terminals. Something may be broken or shorted in there.
There are no fuses or reset buttons in this range that would stop the oven and the surface burners from working at the same time.

I have a double gas oven and no instructions

I have an O'Keefe & Merritt double oven gas stove. The model number is 72 7242 23. The upper oven is about the size of a large microwave and sits above the range burners. The lower (full-size) oven is below the burner unit and includes a broiler draw below it.
So, when you say, double oven, I wonder if you are just talking about the main oven with broiler drawer (both of which are below the burner unit.)

Mine was a builder-supplied appliance in the new house we purchased in 1986. The upper oven has never performed very well. And, yes the upper oven can only be used for baking.

I have an instruction manual for it, but it doesn't provide that much information. Getting parts for it is extremely difficult, since Tappan is no longer manufacturing this brand. (I've been trying to locate a flat oven ignitor for the upper oven and can't seem to find a replacement that's the same 6-1/3" length.) In the 1980s Tappan apparently purchased O'Keefe & Merritt and marketed this brand for several years. Models originally manufactured by O'Keefe & Merritt in the 1930s-1950s are considered collectible antique stoves!
