Question about Dometic RM2652 Refrigerator
Hi, We have a Dometic RM2662 refrigerator in our 2007 Bigfoot trailer. Our unit was under the recall and we had the work done by a local dealer. They could not get the unit to light on the gas setting, but it worked fine on electric. They recommended replacing the main circuit board. Just after we brought the unit home, we discovered that the converter had malfunctioned and had cooked the battery. They decided that this was probably the cause of the problem as this would keep the flame from lighting. We have replaced the converter with a Xantrex True Charge 2 charger, redone our battery setup and, electrically, everything is peachy. The refrigerator, however, still will not light on gas. We have even tried lighting is manually, as instructed by them (didn’t know you could do this!). Do you have any ideas? Should we change out the brain? Any ideas would be appreciated. Bruce R. Check the burner assembly. 1 screw, remove the sheet metal cover and clean it. The burner collects rust. This is the likely. Other issues would be the gas pressure usually checked with a manometer. Should 11" of water column. If your furnace works good then the gas pressure is probably ok. Also could have a faulty ignitor which sends a miliamp signal back to the circuit board. Check the burner first, after that leave the cover off and turn the fridge on. Watch the ingnitor attempt to lite the burner. Be sure the spark is going to the burner and not shorting out on the sheet metal it is mounted in. If it is shorting to the frame the ignitor needs replacing.

Make sure the thermister is attached firmly to the fins in the back. The boards on a Norcold can be reset a service center familiar with this process is your best bet. It takes disconecting the board and then shorting it out best to leave it to some one who is familiar.

I was having the same problem as sallyfixit. After the recall on the Dometic RM2652, I was problem shooting to fix it. I found that you should check the wiring on the thermocouple to make sure it is wired correctly. If the on light, the check light and the interior light is still working but not cooling, replace the thermostor. This fixed my problem.

So, the solution was simple but not obvious: the heat probe and the igniter are one and the same item, and all we had to do was bend the probe/igniter closer to the burner. After we did that the refrigerator started to behave properly.
Oddly enough, the repair manual for the refrigerator shows a igniter with a heat probe above it: the is not how the refrigerator is built.
