You have a bad eye, this is a glass lens that shoots a laser, kind of like a barcode reader. It knows a disc is in it and is trying to read it, thus why it says loading. you could have it fixed, but would be cheaper to buy a new dvd player at wallmart 37.00. Try a brand new or different dvd to make sure it is not the disc first, keep in mind some players have problems reading dvd-r, and dvd-rw's, so try a retail dvd different then the one you have been trying.

The DVD player keeps opening and closing and won't play/load DVD's. What could be the problem?

There are sensors which tell the DVD drive that the drawer is closed and that there is a DVD inserted, if these fail there is usually no simple fix, the parts need to be replaced which requires complete dis-assesembly of the TV/DVD, Most people just choose to connect an external DVD as it is cheaper.

My husband always operated the DVD player. He has died and now I'm at a loss what to do. I rented a DVD at the video store. I tried to put it into the tray on the DVD player. I had to pull the tray...

Hi, Very sorry for your loss. As always the first step is to make sure the player is connected to the wall outlet and turned on. To put a disk in the DVD you should push the "Eject" button to open and close the tray it looks like a home(a triangle over a dash) on the front side of the box down left corner of the tray. You have the same button on the remote marked "Eject". Push either once, put the disk with the shiny side down on the tray and push the Eject button again to feed the tray back into the player. Usually the disk starts automatically and you will see a menu on the TV with alternatives like "Play the movie", "Setup", "Scenes",... you may highlight the "Play the movie" alternative, using "Up", "Down", "Left" and "Right" and then press the "OK" button. Or just push the "Play" button either on the box or the remote control. If you click "Here "you can download the manual in PDF form. To open it in your pc you'll need "Adobe Acrobat Reader" (or any other PDF reader) installed.
I will gladly answer your questions Best Regards Bruce

Will not play disk comes up no disk

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

My Sony DVP-cx995v stopped playing DVD's

I had the same "Cannot play" problem - happened suddenly, I don't think I was doing anything unruly at the time.

After checking repair (exchange) prices in excess of $250 from Sony, I decided to open the cover to see if I could see anything wrong - normally a futile exercise with electronics except that in the past I have cleared errant disks that have lodged themselves near the drive/player at the rear of the library.

Upon opening and watching the library try to load and play I noticed the drive itself was not spinning the disk once loaded. It would sit for awhile, thinking about it I'm sure, then would unload and load the next dvd, again failing to spin.

I thought okay, maybe try to spin the dvd while in the player to see if it's jammed or otherwise hard to turn. It was not hard to turn and spun freely. In fact, when I put my finger through the hole at the exposed side of the player at the hub to spin the dvd, clockwise, it suddenly started to spin - and play!

I put the whole thing back together to test and all seems to be working fine at this point. Not sure what would cause the motor to stop spinning and remain in that state through poweroff/on cycles etc. but I'm sure this is not the last time I will have trouble of this kind.

I would note that when replacing the library back in its home on the shelf, be careful not to tip the library, especially toward the player area because the disks will spill out of the carousel near the player and become jammed when you power it on and attempt to load. A final tip of the library away from the player area may clear this if you hear the disks rolling out of their slots and you don't want to open the top again (it's a darned heavy box when fully loaded).

Good luck!

Myron & davis dvd problem

This indicates that the DVD Player is unable to detect any disk inserted in the DVD Player Compartment. Check the player using a known playable DVD and Music CD. If these operate normally, the Disk is probably faulty. If the known disk does not play, clean the DVD Laser lens as detailed elsewhere in these FAQs and try again. If unsuccessful, check that the DVD LID is seating properly and latching in the fully closed position. If this does not work and the product is within the warranty period, simply return it to the retailer from where it was bought together with your receipt as proof of purchase.
This is what I found about your unit.
If it is under warranty, the best thing is to bring it in for repair or replacement.
Disconnect the power from the source and hook back up. It may clear.
