Question about Car Audio & Video

My subs will not hit when my trunk is closed

So basically i rewired my whole system today, and got my subs and amp to work, also re-did the ground. and it bumps and hits fine when my trunk is open, i can even feel greater vibrations inside, but as soon as the trunk closes, the subs don't hit as hard, they still hit, but you can barely feel it compared to what is was giving out when it was open...I hope someone has an answer to this question, i looked all around....PLEASE HELP!!!

i know that. i know it's not about that, it's really weird, like it will hit different frequencies of bass when the trunk is open and not when it's closed, and harder too. i have 2 12" dual subwoofers and my amp is also dual 450 watts

Just like a speaker system they don't work in a closed box it has to be vented, and you trunk is too well sealed you need to incorporate ports

the best thing to do is get in touch with amazon, and see what they can do about it,if you try to fix the problem yourself it will invalidate the garantee!

Subs hit without volume on

1. Check Grounding system (Player and Power Amp).
2. Ensure your RCA cable is OK
3. You might adjust volume or bass volume on power amp to maximum, just set all to 50% while you are tuning.
4. Check the speaker out cables might contact the ground/ chassis

My amp got very hot today. No smoke, but smelled like bleach, then like new plastic (like a new shower curtain). Seems to work, but it is still very warm to touch 15 mins after I shut the car off. Any...

well, an inadequate ground source (paint between the ring terminal and the ground metal) or just not a good place on the chasis that is grounded. Or you have the amp wired at a low ohm load. the lower ohm load that you have your amp wired at the hotter and more current it will draw from your vehicle. this basically means you may be overworking your amp... If it's improperly wired from the subs to the amp you will certainly fry your amp. Also another reason your amp can get hot is if the amp is underpowering your subs a lot... this also is incuded in overworking your amp... usually it will cause a lot of headlight dimming and that kind of stuff... Also if you have a lot of voltage drop in the vehicle like down in the 11 volt range when the subs hit it will cause your amplifier to heat up a lot...

Radio plays but plug in the rc jacks for the amp and subs and get this grounded out sound plug in different deck works perfect the deck worked fine a week ago

check for loose connections at your speakers and sub. If you have a loose connection, they can ground the other out... look closely for loose strands that may short it out. most of the amps have overload protection and cut out when there's a short/ground out issue..

I had this happen on my sub and it acted like the whole system was cutting out.

Cant figure out my car audio problems!!!!!

There are a couple of tests you can perform. I'd first recommend checking the shield ground. You'll need an ohm meter. The details can be found on the following page.

RCA shield ground test

You can also test the output with the multimeter. Set the multimeter to AC volts. If it's not an auto-ranging meter, set it to a voltage range of ~2v AC. Disconnect the RCA cables from the head unit. Touch one meter probe to the outer ring of the head unit's RCA jack. Touch the other probe to the metal contact in the center of the RCA jack. With the head unit near full volume and a clean signal source, you should read at least one volt on musical peaks. If you have a bass disc or a test tone disc (~60hz sine wave), use those.

Subs not working but amp is

Sounds like a Ground problem on the amplifier earth connection to chassis, could be a little loose if so.. also check if the paint is scraped off, so there is good ground. Also check all positive 12+ on the amplifier if all wires is tight. Cheers mate
