Hi Sir

1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run "Initial Setup" under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.

Xbox-360 elite lower right hand red flashing led light code error E73

If you get the Xbox 360 1 red light message, it means that the problem is either with the DVD drive, or with the hard drive.

Fortunately, the Xbox 360 1 red light message is not something that you should worry about. In order to identify which of the two drives the Xbox 360 1 red light messages is referring to, just look the code number that the screen displays. DVD drive errors are identified with the codes E64, E65 and E66, whereas hard drive errors are identified with codes E67, E69 and E79.

Once you identify which error the Xbox 360 1 red light message is pointing to, fixing it is really easy. The guide available at Fix-xbox360.info will tell you what to do in each case, as well as what to do in case you get any of the other Xbox 360 lights messages. Check it out.

Red circle 3/4 bright red says E71 or E79

both codes you gave are different, but could be same:

E71 = A possible dashboard update error, may need sent back to MS for repair.

E79 = Hard drive error.

In both cases though it could be your hard drive causing the error. Try removing your hard drive and see if that solves the problem.

It is displaying a e79 eror code with bottom right coner light flashing red

This is similar to the E74 and you need to stop the heat build up on the console - you will need to either send it in or you can repair it yourself with a good Xbox 360 Repair guide

E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. If it works with the hard drive removed then you may have a faulty hard drive m8. To test your machine before you buy another one, borrow a mates hard drive and test it in your machine, if you get the error code again then something in your machine is faulty. If it loads ok with a different hard drive then yours is definately the problem. www.fixmyconsole.co.uk

Bought a new hard drive for the xbox 360 ,and after running the upgrade all I get when I turn it on is a system error and a red light flashing on the console

Take a look at the screen you should find a number for the error code there like E80 or E79.
If it is E80 this means that the update went wrong and that the consoles kernel wasnt flashed completely.
This can often be fixed with an NXE update recovery disc, search for it on Google, you can download it from Xbox.com.

If you are getting an error like E67, E68 ,E69, E79 or something similar it will be harddrive related very likely, disconnect the harddrive and try to power the console if the problem is gone get a harddrive replacement, call Xbox Support they will take care of that...

If you should be getting a different error code take a look at this error code list this will tell you whats causing this certain error and how it can be fixed: http://xbox-experts.com/e/errorcodes.php

I hope this helps.

Xbox 360. got an error message E79 and 4 red lights. Now it freezes up at reume game. What do I do.

All four lights means there is a problem with the av cables, check to make sure they are in all the way, but that is inconsistent with the E79 error, which is a hard drive error. Check the cables, then try running your machine without the hard drive. If all else fails, or if the hard drive is bad and under warranty, call 18004myxbox and get it fixed. If you need to send it out and will cost $ ask to speak to a supervisor, and they can usually get the cost down a bit. Good luck.

Nooooo

Here is what I found for error code e79:
E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.
According to tmbinc: E79 is the error code if xam.xex could not be started, i.e. probably a file system corruption.
You might want to get in touch with microsoft and see what they suggest to fix this problem. Here is a link to their support site:
