Question about Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD for Pentax

1 Answer

My lens 28-75.Has worked fine for a year.

Suddenly getting fatal Error 99 message from my Canon20D

Was in the middle of a shoot. And suddenly happened.Could power off camera.Reboot.Sometimes shot a few frames. Then Error again.Sometimes hear strange sound of lens trying to auto focus as power on camera.

Mounted my Canon lens.No problems. Is there a BIOS flash to update the lens.As I love it's performance. For what I paid for a second hand lens.

I have a lens like yours but mine ( I don't think) will fit a Pentax. I had the same problem. I thought it was the camera. So I took them both to the camera shop. When I was told that the lens was the problem I bought a new lens. I still have this one and if you find a fix for it I'd like to try it on mine.

I've had my T3i for about 18 months. Suddenly, I am getting an Error 01 when using my CANON EFS 55-250 lens which has always worked fine before. Any ideas? Cleaning the contacts has not helped.

Without pulling the error codes I can't give you a firm cause, but the most common reason you get erratic error messages is a failure of the aperture unit in the lens (or sometimes the IS unit). They are connected to the back of the lens circuit board by flexible circuits, and as you zoom them back and forth you get cracks in the flexes, like you used to get with the old point and shoot AF film cameras

I'm getting a error message that says, "ERR 99".

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could mean several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:
Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Thanks

Error 99 in body

Remove lens, CF card, and battery. Leave in a dry and slightly warm place for 24 hours. Clean lens contacts with a cloth or cue tip and eclipse/alcohol.
If the camera doesn't turn on after this, even without CF card and lens attached, then it needs to go to a Canon service centre. Don't tell them you got it wet, and maybe it will get repaired FOC.

Lens Error Message

Hi there

I had the same problem a year after I bought my camera. I returned it to Nikon and they fixed it and returned it. The problem reoccurred 3 times and each times Nikon repaired it free of charge. Then after a year it went again and, when I returned it to Nikon they sent me a new camera. Within a couple of months the new camera had the same problem. I have since resolved it with new batteries! The original coolpix rechargeable batteries do not seem to recharge properly so when I put ordinary AA batteries in it suddenly worked. Good luck.

I have the same problem. I had some ghosting on my pages before I got the error and turned off and turned on and it worked for a little then got ghosting again and then the error.
The technichian told me it was the fuser unit in the back. It is simple to replace, just like a drum, you pull it out and put the new one in. You can find them fairly inexpensive but check your warranty. This model comes with a one year warranty and that fuser should fall under warranty.
