Take the case off,
there are 2 screws holding white cables on the LHS,
unscrew these,
replace fuser,
re-terminate cables,
case back on,
done!

I am not familiar with this model but the fuser assembly is typically located very close to the exit area of your unit.
This MAY be either a quartz lamp or a solid state heater that uses heat and pressure to fix the loose carbon permanently to the paper.
Its operation can be noticed (if working) by a pronounced higher level of warmth near the document exit.

This may be user replaceable but I wouldn't advise it unless the operator's manual describes the procedure.

The part is not terribly expensive:

Scan down the page for your model number.

Before siccing a tech o nthis, you might want to open the machine as far as you can without unscrewing stuff and inspect the guts of it; sometimes the error code is wrong about the source of the problem but in this case, it is technically simple to monitor the fuser temperature and report the failure to heat.

Blurred print of incoming and outgoing report

There are usually two things that can cause blurred printing.
1 The toner/drum needs changing.
2 The fuser assy is worn and not fusing the toner onto the paper correctly. This is easy to check. Does the print rub off the paper with your finger? If so then a new fuser is required. Also its possible a tooth on the gear that drives the fuser is broken. The fuser gear may have also worn down and its jumping on the gear that drives it.

There is a smudged side on the fax when it comes across. I have changed the toner and shaken the toner up the smudge still comes back in the same place on the fax

If this smudge is showing up on the faxes you are RECEIVING and you have changed the toner then the next most likely cause is a fuser problem. This is especially true if the smudged area feels gritty or the toner rubs off the page in the smudged area. If this is the case then you need to replace the fusing unit or have a local repair place replace the fuser "film" on your fuser unit.

Message 77. What does that mean?

Machine Error 77 is a problem with the temperature of the fuser. The fuser is the hot rollers in the back that melt the powdered toner into the paper, making your image permanent. It's temperature is regulated with a few feedback and safety features to shut it down in case the regulator goes haywire or the sensors stop working. The redundancy in the system is because a runaway heater could be a fire hazard. If any one of the sensors involved doesn't see the temperature it expects, it shuts the whole works down, and puts up an error code.
If this started when you pulled a paper jam out of the back of the machine, you may have accidentally unplugged one of the fuser's cables, but it's unlikely. If you did, it should be hanging in plain sight in the back of the machine.
More likely is that the fuser's heat lamp has burned out, or the thermistor that senses it has gone bad. Some machines have a fuser that can easily be pulled out and replaced, but this one is more difficult, and the teflon-coated rollers are easy to scratch or gouge. I'd recommend taking it to a Brother-authorized service center. Call first and ask if it's worth it.

My fax is say ' fuser error ' then ' memory received'. What does this mean and how do I clear it? Andie B

Fuser error means the the fuser (the part that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the paper) is not heating up properly. This usually requires the fuser to be replaced. The memory received indicator is telling you that the machine has received a fax transmission. It can not print it out however because of the fuser error. If the fuser is replaced then the faxes in memory will be printed.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

We are getting Error CODE 021 on our fax machine Panafax UF-560 and can't find the owners manual to fix it...can you help?

Error code 021 indicates a bad fuser but in some cases, the error can be reset. To attempt a reset, do the following:
  1. Remove the toner cartridge and close door back up.
  2. Power down the fax (switch is on the back side lower left) for 5-10 seconds.
  3. Power on the fax and see if the 021 code is gone.
  4. Re-insert toner cartridge
If this doesn't work, there's one other thing to try prior to calling a technician.

1. Push the function button
2. Push 7 on the key pad
3. Push Monitor button 4 times (it will only beep at you)
4. Push * on key pad

You should now see the service menu option

5. Push 7 on the key pad
6. Push "Set" button
7. Push down arrow button once

You should now see the fuser reset option

8. Push "Set" button

You will be prompted for 1 for Yes 2 for no

9. Push 1 on key pad.

You should receive confirmation that the reset is *COMPLETE*

10. Push Stop button until back to the main screen

11. Power down the fax
12. Wait 5-10 seconds.
13. Power on the fax

If this doesn't work, a service call will be needed to replace the fuser. I do hope this fixes your problem.

Error 77

Try opening the front panel, removed the toner and close the panel. The printer should try to warm up and then say to open the panel door. Then open the door, insert the toner, clos it and the machine error should clear.
If not ---- power off the printer for 15 minutes and power back on again. If that fixes the problem then OK. If not then go into maintenance mode -
Press and hold the menu/set key while turning on the machine. Wait until it comes completely up before releasing. It should say Maintenance in the display.
If not press function,*,2,8,6,4 within two seconds. It should say maintenance in the display. Or on some machines Menu,*,2,8,6,4 within 2 seconds.Once you get it into maintenance hit 91 to do a parameter reset and than 99 to get out of maintenance.
If this corrects the problem then OK but you may have a failing thermister in the fuser. If the problem happens again then change the thermister. If the reset does not work then either the thermister or the fuser lamp has failed. In rare cases there is a poor connection with the cables to the fuser.
You will have to reset the parameter again after replacing the fuser if you need to replace the fuser or repair it.

Error 7C

There's no manual for "machine error 7C" in Bro IntelliFax 4100. To fix this issue. You will need to pull out the toner. Note: the toner and drum are connected.....At the left corner of the drum. You will see a blue tab......You will need to slide the blue tab back and forth for 20th times....And put the toner back in its place.....This is just a temp fix but you need to replace the drum to have it working its fullest......
