Question about InFocus IN26 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

How do I replace the ballast in an InFocus IN26? And while we're at it, where do I get one? I've already replaced the bulb with a new one (direct from InFocus), reset everything to factory settings, and called InFocus Tech Support, they gave me a number of a company that would do it for me, but between the price of the Bulb, and what the company was going to charge me to replace the ballast, I could have bought a new Projector. Thanks

Remove the front and rear bezels, remove the top cover, take a picture of the location of screws and ground wire on the metal frame. remove the top boards, remove the metal frame and there is the ballast/power supply. pay attention to the way the cable is routed to the lamp connection, also pay attention to which way the connection from the ballast is seated in the lamp housing. hopefully a new ballast will fix it for you, as to where to get one, that's iffy. you could try to find an in26 on ebay that has other problems but has a working ballast

I have a infocus IN35 that at 100 hours burnt out a bulb. Thinking that it was just a bulb problem I bought a new bulb and it lasted 20 minutes. a t.v.repair shop said its probably the ballast that is the...

It is not a common problem. Ballasts rarely need repairs. Have you reset the lamp hours to zero after installing new bulb? If, yes to confirm about ballast please ask the TV repair shop man whether previously he had repaired any DLP projector. There is lot of difference in technology of DLP projector & TV (except DLP Projection TV). The problem could be in the projector main board. The lamp lights after getting Lamp ON signal from the projector main board. As the lamp ignites the ballast sends the signal of Lamp Lit. If the projector board senses that any blower/exhaust fan or colour wheel is not running then it will send a signal to Switch OFF the lamp. If you are tech-savvy then do as follows to check about lamp & ballast. Remove 5 pin connector from the projector. Connect projector to mains supply. Get a 5V DC power supply. Connect +ve to pin 3 & -ve to pin 4 of the ballast connector from this supply. The lamp should light. If it does not light then there is problem in the ballast (if the lamp is new). To give a chance you can check it for your lamp which lasted 20 minutes. Generally ballasts are made by OSRAM. You can get the ballast from OSRAM dealer. You will need the part number for that. Take out the ballast, it is there on it.

Infocus IN72 - blinking RED light

firdt off, did you reset the lamp counter? did you clean the dust out of the projector? it may be overheating as well. if the lamp looks ok, you may have just blown the ballast. try projector doctor online.

Infocus 1n32 show the bulb is bad but when replaced the unit still will not light up.

could also be a bad colorwheel or ballast. if you hear a high-pitched whir when you start it up, the colorwheel is working and the problem may be the ballast. in no whir, replace the colorwheel.

InFocus IN26 overheating

clean it out. use canned air and blow the dust out of it. sometimes after many overheating issues, the temperature sensor needs to be replaced. but first clean it out and make sure the fans work well. if they spin slowly, replace them.

I have an infocus in26 projector that has a shadow on one side of the image. i have been told this is indicative of a light tunnel collapse, is this a problem i can repair and if so how do i get the new...

it is the light tunnel. it is moderately easy to replace. just remember which screws go where. remove the lamp door, the top, rear and sides (8 screws on bottom, 2 in back). you'll see the colorwheel between the lamphousing and the lens. unplug the 2 cables for the colorwheel from the main board. unscrew the colorwheel base. the tunnel is under the metal clip next to the colorwheel. remove the clip and tunnel. replace tunnel and replace the clip, colorwheel, top, and lamp door. the top comes off as one piece, but must be replaced as 2 pieces. there are clips attaching the front to the top.

the part number for the tunnel is 306-0113-xx (if you have a in26+, it's # 306-0122-xx) and you can purchase it from any authorized infocus service center (find the closest one to you on the infocus website).

Infocus LP 280 runs for 1 min then shuts down, runs again then

are the leds on the top lit or blinking? it could be the lamp, the ballast, or the fans. check the lamp. if there are black spots or bulges in the lamp, replace it. if not, make sure the fans are running. if they are, replace the ballast.
