There is a lever just under the cook top and above the oven door with a black handle. You need to move the lever all the way to the right. This locks/seals the door and closes the oven vent so your kitchen doesn't get smokey! Once you do this the oven clean light will stop flashing and the oven will heat up.

I also have this issue and the latch was closed. Tried it again. Set everything to OFF. Then 1) Close Latch & confirm locked 2) Set oven to Self-Clean. Light blinks right away. Timer doesn't count down.

Smeg pyrolitic oven is setting an alarm off on clock after we set the required temp it will start to heat up then the alarm goes off if not quick enough to reset clock, it then locks the oven door

in cleaning a pyrolitic oven is suppose to lock the oven door , this is a safety feature due to fact that oven gets up much higher in temp than a normal oven , the heated air it produces if let out would flash burn anything in front of it to ashes (people, pets, rugs, etc.) the clock doubles as your display window to see what temp oven is at , there should be a clock selection to see current time of day even if oven is in use , and last but not least , it has a delay cleaning start feature , you can set it to come on and clean it's self , Id recommend not to use this feature for safety reasons (I don't think the mfg thought that feature out too much )
the door should remain locked till oven temp is below a preset minimum safe temp ,id not force it open for safety reasons

I'm following the instructions on my Whirlpool range to clean the oven. I've done everything the instructions said, but it won't get going. ( set the knob to clean, set start and stop knobs...

Might be a typo in the manual typically the latch is moved to the right to close and after clean is over move to the left to open. BE SURE TO REMOVE RACKS BEFORE CLEANING

Oven door after self clean cycle won't unlock

Both the oven" ON " light and " Clean " light will flash when the clean has finished . When the " clean " light flashes , slide the latch handle to the left as far as it will go , then turn the " OVEN SET " knob to " OFF " to open the door.

Self clean doesn't start

i would pop the top up and see if there is a bad switch on the handle that locks the oven.

I can't get oven to work on broil or bake; only self-cleaning.

Hello
Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

Try turning the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if this resets the system.
if not you may have a defective Control board and you will need to have a HANDS on tech to diagnose these parts to be sure! They will have the diagnose equipment !

Westinghouse self cleaning oven manual or owners manual

Many White-Westinghouse manuals can be found here: http://www.frigidaire.com/support/manuals.asp I had the same problem and was able to solve it. They didn't have the exact manual for mine (a KF450G), but they had one that was similar enough (KF580H) to solve this issue. Setting the knobs to clean is only part of the process, to get it to run you need to set the timer. Read the key information below transcribed from the manual: --- To set the controls for the cleaning cycle: 1) Close the oven door. 2) Be sure the clock shows the correct time of day. 3) Be sure the Start Time knob is set for the same time as the clock. If not, turn the knob to the time on the clock. The knob will then pop out. 4) Push in and set the Stop Time knob for 2 to 3 hours past the Start Time. Example: If the Start Time and Clock read 1:00, set the Stop Time for 3:00 or 4:00. 5) Turn the Temperature Control to CLEAN. 6) Turn the Selector to CLEAN. If all controls are set correctly, the oven signal light will come on and stay on until the oven reaches its cleaning temperature. It will then cycle on and off. --- There is more information in the manual, but it's much too much information to manually transcribe - I've only typed enough for you to get it working. Note that the LOCKED light won't light initially, it only lights once the oven exceeds 550 degrees. Once that light is on, the oven will not reopen until the temperature drops below that point, even if you stop the clean cycle. Be sure to empty out the storage drawer under the oven before cleaning.

Tappan double oven

I have the digital timer oven and also cannot find the manual. You have to set the bake time timer, I think for 3 hours. Then you set the oven knob on clean and turn on the temp knob, probably to full but I don't think it matters. When you engage the lock, the clean light should come on/ When the oven reaches high temp, the lock light will also be on.
