It could be anything from a dirty laser lens to the laser assembly itself being bad.

1988 mazda 323 hatchback, 212K miles. Tried to start this morning, no go. Cabin lights and radio came on, ignition switch turns, but no "click-click-click" sound. I think the starter isn't connecting...

I would have the system checked by a starting/charging analyzer. If the draw is 1 or 2 amps and the starter doesn't turn, the starter will have to be replaced to replace the bad solenoid. Also, if the draw is 75 to 125 amps and it doesn't turn, the starter is bad.

Normally, a starter should draw 75 to 125 amps and turn vigorously, assuming the battery connections are ok.

Just bought a mazda 626 LX hatchback. Noticed

This can be caused by few things but most likely by moisture. Mazda's immobilizer has this weekness that if it gets some dampness it can kick in. But to be 100% sure what was it it is best to get diagnostics test done.

Just bought an 88 mazda 323. says cat. is clogged. engine sounds ok but was wondering another diagnosis. he says he didnt want me to drive it for fear that if the clog got too hot it would explode and blow...

Well, blow up Im not sure bout that but it could possibly get you stuck somewhere if it is clogged or on the way out.It could cause some engine damage though.I would not drive it if it is thought to be clogged without checking into more.

Automatic 2005 Mazda 3 hatchback will only start in Neutral.

Sort of...
There is a safety neutral switch that will only allow the car to start in park and neutral. If it starts in other gears or Not in park, then switch needs to be replaced

this is a very rare problem, it is caused by the large sealing O ring sticking. all car and trucks use this same cap developed by stant inductries.
