Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

JVC AV-48WP34 Woke up this morning, and the picture is all screwed up. Everything is a blur with a mix of green and red double picture (almost like a 3d effect, but without the glasses on). There is a also a green wave in the top left of the screen, I took a picture of it. The TV is about 4 years old, any ideas on how to fix it and whether it will be expensive.

JVC AV 48wp30 : turned on and got like a 3d image, red light is ghosting.

If I go to the front of the TV and take cover off and unscrew wood plate. There
is 6 buttons. One of them will turn the red light off and then the picture is ok
except the color has no red.
    Is this an easy fix?
    Please Help, Thanks

The convergence ICs need to be replaced. I can post a link where to get replacement ICs along with free step by step instructions so you can do the repair yourself. Its an easy ,common repair , however a shop will be around 300 to 400

I have double blurry vision with green and purple/red splashes on all inputs (ghostlike)

This is a very common problem. If you want to fix this yourself you will need to be able to solder, but other than that its a very easy fix. Both the convergence output ic's need to be replaced (PN STK392-110). If you have a repairman do this for you it will run $300-$500 to repair. Let me know if you want to fix this yourself and i will assist you further.

Blurred TV - double vision with red hue

I was searching online about what could be the problem with our TV and I came across your page. We have a 52" JVC Projection TV that now has a "blurred" screen. We can see the channels but it looks like it's has a shadow around the images. The screen in in a red hue with green blur.

If you have any suggestions on what caused this and what we can do to have this fixed, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Double picture

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

RED AND GREEN DOUBLE AND BLUR PICTURE HELP PLEASE

You have a convergence problem. Components are shorted out and must be replaced. Unless you're a technician, there's really nothing you can do at this point.

You need to set your convergence. Check your owner's manual on how to do it. I'm not sure the exact procedure on that model, but usually you can find it in the setup menu of the tv. What you're trying to do is line the red and the blue up perfectly with the green so that they all blend together to give you one picture.
