It clips to the gas cap to keep the cap from falling and rolling under the beer fridge. It comes off too easily and can be pulled out and thrown away.

That sounds like a clip that prevents that hose from coming out of the tank is all. It may be a check valve to to prevent back flow siphoning. But I'm just guessing.

Tiller would start then quickly dies.

If you look inside the gas tank, there is a small little gas filter attached to a small plastic tube.
Fish the gas filter out with a small wire.
Replace the filter with a new one.
Please let me know if that works.

I need info on a Poulan Pro 445 fuel line routing

I'm so confused. This is reported as a Poulan and McCulloch pole saw, which one? Is it a pole saw? That is the only 445 Poulan I can find. It is reported as an electric but has a fuel routing problem.

If it is a Poulan Pro gas pole saw it is here: PP445 Gas Pole Pruner
The fuel system routing is terrible, but it is all there is.
Fuel Routing follows:
Tank to carburetor (hose in tank with filter on free end)
Carburetor to primer (primer draws fuel from the tank through the carb)
Primer to fuel tank (returns any excess fuel to tank when pushed) HTH

The toro will start and run for 2 seconds then quit. We took apart the air filter and cleaned the gas line as well as cleaned the plug. No improvement. Thought it may have been bad gas or a plugged gas...

I am not sure what type of carb you have so I will give you a couple of ideas.
1. If the carb is one of the plastic ones that attaches directly to the gas tank take of the air cleaner and press the primer bulb. If you get a spurt of gas and not a stream of gas get a new diaphragm for the carb. It goes between the tank and the carb.
2. If there is a sediment bulb hooked to the carb drain the gas from tank and then carefully remove the sediment bulb and clean it.
3. If there is a sediment bulb hooked to the carb and a flat paper air filter attached to the sediment bulb via a plastic air filter holder with a primer bulb built into the air filter holder replace the gasket between filter cover and sediment bulb.

good luck
let me know if this works.

My homelite weed eater sx-135 the fuel filter broke of the tube

The longer, and sometimes smaller in diameter fuel line, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. This line, which has the filter attached to the end, should rest comfortably on the bottom of the tank.
The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch, with that very small piece of plastic attached to it. This piece of plastic keeps this line from pulling out of the gas tank. this line serves as an overflow from carb.

32 cc Craftsman (Poulan) gas line replacement

Yes, you are right. The larger line goes to the primer bulb and only goes into the tank about an inch. The coupling just keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. The smaller line goes to the carb. This line must rest comfortably on the bottom of the tank with the filter attached to the end.

Need to reassemble the D.E. filter

All D.E. filters are basically the same. There are two plastic manifolds. One attaches to the bottom of tank by threads or bolts. The other plastic manifold goes on top, and ussually has small holes in this manifold for stainless rods to run through. All fabic looking materials(grids) run between bottom manifold, and top manifold. All grids must be washed free ofD.E.(diatomacus earth). Place bottom manifold on solid ground and begin plugging grids into large holes in manifold so they form a circle, this sometimes takes two people. Place top manifold on other end of grids in a simular fashion.Gently turn assembled filter to its side while holding together, and run ss rods through small
holes in bottom manifold, i n between grids , and through small holes in top manifold. Secure rods with ss washer and nuts, until snug but not overtightened.
